Hello,

Can you suggest a simple device that is able to run in client mode and supports 802.11n? I have not really any more requirements except it should be fit to run new releases and the processing and memory should be able to support the data rates.
I have an old WRT54g, it works but it maxes out at 10Mbps.

Thanks!

R7500v2, EA8500 or R7800. If only picking one, R7800.

I know, they are overkill. Smile Future proof-ish 802.11ac Wave 2!

Skipping 802.11ad, 802.11ax maybe consider 802.11be if widely adopted.

Not sure what your CPU, RAM and data rate requirements are.

Maybe consider A7v5 / C7v5 but the hardware specification is very limiting.

Thanks much for the suggestions.

I don't really have a specific performance requirement, just that it doesn't limit the throughput. I want to use the router simply to connect to a remote AP, and then and distribute the network further via LAN. I suppose any device that has a halfway modern wifi should in principle be able to do the job. Client mode used to work well on my old devices, but that is of course also a must that it is well supported.

It will connect to a Atheros AR9381, which is bgn, so for this purpose it doesn't need to be more than that. The device will be dedicated to that purpose.
