Hi guys, I know this is an old router and I know there are other topics about it but considering mine is a very specific question, I thought it'd better to start a new one.
Can anyone tell me which firmware I can choose for a WRT54GL-EU that I'll receive as a gift in 2 days?
The only two things I need are:
- IPv6 (tunnel 6in4/6RD included)
- VPN client (preferably OpenVPN but if I have to use something else, I will)
This router will have only one task:
being placed behind a 4G modem in order to let other people access some things (not computers) that are behind the 4G modem as well. That's it.
I would like to give these things some IPv6 addresses (from my VPN server I have somewhere else OR through a free tunnel if that works)
Thanks Smile

Thanks man, yea that's it.
I've been doing my research and so far I think I'll go with FreshTomato mini VPN version (that includes IPv6) unless I find something better around here Smile

You won't see OpenVPN or Wireguard on anything with less than 8MB flash, you may see it on mini-VPN-MIPSR1 FreshTomato, but the zipped file is 3.9MB.

It looks like there is still a VPN version being built for the WRT54GL. dd-wrt.v24_vpn_generic.bin is in the latest build folders. It is 3.59MB in size. Is this not accurate, or is it not OpenVPN?

EDIT: Out of pure curiosity, I installed build 44236 of the VPN build on one of my several WRT54GLs., and it is indeed still there. I have not tested it, but it I would assume it works. Dunno.

Hi, thanks, is IPv6 included in that version?

You likely won't see IPv6.

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2020/

look in the XX-XX-2020-rXXXX folders for 'broadcom', that is where all the MIPSR1 WRT54* and similar hardware images are.

IPv6 is (or was, at least) in nokaid and voip builds. Only build listed with ipv6 and vpn is 'mega' for 8MB+ flash, though I'm not sure if that's true for the newest builds.
