Downloads: (DD-WRT website) HTTPS & FTP (try another if a link doesn't work)

CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (or 'curl -k {file URL} -o {file}') with http (not https) or ftp. Then 'write {file} linux'.

Repository: Trac SVN changelog since last build r44809 (GitHub mirror)

Notes:
• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix (applicability depends on VPN setup) and GUI toggle. 6920, 6928, 6931, 6932 (WIP 7040)
In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed 6954, 6957, with WSD support.
• VAP issue is fixed! For any Wireless Mode, create a VAP and both ath0/ath1 should now function properly.
• Local DNS option removed from Services->DNSMasq in changesets 43080 and 43081; ref: #7092
• DHCP and DNS help (English) updated in 43083; ref: #7091
• WireGuard 1.0.20200908 & Tools: PBR, Kill Switch, Inbound Firewall, Naming of Peers, Status, Key, Guides. Thanks BS & egc!
• OpenVPN Version 2.5.0

Issues:
• There may be remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.

Important:
• If reporting issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog, serial output, strace, tcpdump etc.
• For firewall NAT or WAN issues provide 'iptables -vnL', 'iptables -t nat -vnL', 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' and the /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search existing SVN tickets before opening a new one. Before reporting, reset and manually setup (no nvram backup).
• Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with relevant configuration information.

Code:
[b]Router/Version: [/b]
[b]File/Kernel: [/b]
[b]Previous/Reset: [/b]

The webflash file for this build for the WRT1900ACSv2 is smaller than for any build since I started keeping notes in June 2019. It's smaller by 2^18 bytes exactly than the next smallest that has appeared since then. Wonder why?

Did that other build result in any bricks? Were there functionality issues? Usually anomalies like that may have consequences...

Upgraded WRT1200AC v1's from r44809 to r44849 using Brave Version 1.10.97 (64-bit) running on Linux Mint 20 OS.

Successful update and reboot. No reset, nothing disabled prior to update, uptime approximately 30 minutes, wired/wireless connected, vpn up immediately (Expressvpn). I do not use NAS. SFE is always disabled. OpenVPN client/DNSMasq, QoS with PIE always enabled.

Kernel Version Linux 4.9.242 #2208 SMP Fri Nov 20 07:33:10 +07 2020 armv7l

OpenVPN 2.5.0 arm-unknown-linux-gnu [SSL (OpenSSL)] [LZO] [LZ4] [EPOLL] [MH/PKTINFO] [AEAD] built on Nov 20 2020
library versions: OpenSSL 1.1.1h 22 Sep 2020 LZO 2.09

No issues. I do not have any Apple devices. All settings were retained with update and with a second reboot to confirm. Quick scan of GUI looks normal.

Browser update from part2 with 11-03-2020-r44715 to part1 11-21-2020-r44849

Password; SSH; HTTPS; etc. are "sometimes" retained or activated.

=>
Backup partition activated (ubootenv set boot_part "x"),

@SurprisedItWorks:

Flashed ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900acsv2-webflash.bin to first Partition.

No hiccups so far. Currently busy, will commence testing in a few hours.

File Size according to this PC:
36.442.112 Bytes

R44700 I used before is 37.752.832 Bytes.

It seemingly works.

A hardware reset then reconfigure manually from scratch may be required when jumping to r44849.

Otherwise, use the power switch method to toggle back into r44048.

tried hardware reset method, power switch method couldn't get it to work.
The power LED is flashing, meaning failing to boot.

Looks like serial recovery is the only option.

Thank you

It is a pain sometimes to get the timing correct, so here is an alternate description.

Power ON and when you see LAN LED blinking immediately turn it OFF then wait three seconds, repeat, then power it on a third time and let it run.

Another visual cue is after the power LED blinks a few times then turns off for about 2 seconds, switch power OFF.

This build, 44849, is 36442112 bytes long (webflash, WRT1900ACSv2). Next shortest at 36704256 bytes is a tie between a dozen builds: 43171, 43192, 43209, 43217, 43306, 43381, 43397, 43824, 43845, 43886, and 43904. No bricklayers in there.

The obvious unique thing about the present build is that it's the first to be released, I think, with OpenVPN 2.5. (True?)

OpenVPN has been 2.5 since r44627; it was release candidate but then finalized without changes.

As for file size, just a guess but see these recent changesets. https://svn.dd-wrt.com/search?q=icu

Upgraded from 44048 without issues via GUI - no reset.

Issues: Wifi is still unreliable for me. Performance is great and stable for a while but then wifi connections go into a zombie state on iphones and macbooks. I can usually trigger it within a few minutes by running some speedtests.

On IOS, the wifi remains connected and alive but internet access degrades - you can see it coming - maybe Facebook hangs up, but Safari still works for a few minutes before it hangs up. Eventually, no IP traffic is flowing between the iphone and WAP.

On MACOS, wifi stays connected (wifi stats are being updated like RSSI, tx rate, mcs index etc) but all IP traffic stops flowing between the macbook and WAP.

It happens to multiple devices at the same time for different people in the same room. Recycling the wifi on the client fixes it right away but it doesn't last long. The problem seems to happen faster on the 1900ACS than the 3200ACN.

Fell back to 44048. . As somebody else mentioned, the restore function does not work so I had to restore settings from a backup once the device was running 44048.

Wireguard client: Using Mullvad client config following parts of Hellakenut's "idiots guide for commercial clients" and egc's updated guide to eliminate the startup script.

Kernel (44048): Linux 4.9.231 #1979 SMP Sun Aug 2 03:35:09 +03 2020 armv7l

Linksys WRT3200ACM: gateway mode, DNSMasq for DNS and DHCP, Wireguard client (Mullvad), Firewall enabled, QoS enabled HTB-CAKE, PBR enabled (SFE disabled). WIFI: 2.4ghz: NG-mixed, 20mhz channel width, channel 1, WPA2-CCMP-128. 5ghz: AC/N mixed, 80mhz channel width, channel 100+upper, WPA2-CCMP-128.

Linksys WRT1900ACSv1: router mode, hardwired ethernet lan to WRT3200ACM above. WIFI: 2.4ghz: NG-mixed, 20mhz channel width, channel 11, WPA2-CCMP-128. 5ghz: AC/N mixed, 80mhz channel width, channel 36+upper, WPA2-CCMP-128.

Clients: Apple MACOS x 4, IOS x 4, Apple TV, Chromecast Audio x 2, Eufy doorbells, Lutron Caseta, Axis Camera, Samsung TV, Nest thermostat, EtekCity outlets (Espressif)..
