Hi all,

I have a Netgear WNR834B (Broadcom BCM4704 chip rev 9) running "DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std - build 14896" with wireless mode Repeater and network mode N-Only, and WPA2 AES security. The main router is a factory firmware DLink EXO AX1500. The standing next to the repeater while connected to the main wireless I get 120Mbps of my 125Mbps connection. However when I connect to the repeater wireless standing in the same position I only get 15Mbps to 20Mbps.

I downloaded the latest mini from here ( https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/?model=WNR834B_v1 ) but the firmware update failed.

Any ideas how to speed up the repeater wireless?

I just got the 125Mbps connection and main router. Have been running DD-WRT on Netgear for over 10 yrs. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

last builds ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2020/10-13-2020-r44538/broadcom/

Ive no idea if those builds will run as i dont have this unit, as well never seen it around its too old....
upgrade it on your own, if you know how to unbrick it in case of a brick...

Repeater runs on half duplex speed and its a nasty hack...
try using on both units same: fixed channel like channel 11, 40 HT, NG-Mixed, country domain Canada, short GI, Short preamble..or try a newer build, ignore router database, it never get updated...

best bet with wireless repeaters...
WDS but both units must be compatible, or stick to what you have.... https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WDS_Linked_router_network

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried but I can't get the repeater router to give me more speed. I think my equipment is just too old to use the newer firmware.

In the end I have decided to order the DLink EXO Mesh AC2000 Extender Plug and just leave it on factory firmware for now. So after many years of faithful operation from DD-WRT I will be taking a break from using it. I definitely got a lot out of it since my equipment is 13 yrs old and most people I know with factory firmware have gotten new equipment at least once in that time frame.
