I'm surprised not to find anyone else having this problem in the forum. I'm following the flash instructions found on this forum. I'm on ZorinOS 15.3. I ran the .net app ximgtoolgui.exe
successfully, but the .net app tftp.exe will not run. Both were in the Gv5Flash.zip. The same warning dialog appears saying that this is a windows app that might cause my computer to explode. When I click 'run anyway', the warning disappears, but the apps window never appears. If I run it from a terminal, it complains that it cannot find MFC42.dll. I see that this can mean that the install file must be run rather than the executable. However, I do not have one and the other .net app ran ok. Any and all help very much appreciated.

Why are you using tools designed for windows in linux?

You should be using Linux based tools to do the work.

You need to go read up about these tools specific for linux.

I'm following the detailed instruction on flashing a linksys router that I found on the wiki portion of the present site. Although I did extensive system level development on various flavors of Unix in the early 90's, I am relatively new to Linux. I only just installed ZorinOS and am still finding my way around. I am unaware of Linux tools that could do this. If I knew of a substitute for tftp.exe designed for Linus, I would use it. The upgrade of my router is almost complete.

This is easily fixed by installing mfc42 or vcrun6 via winetricks (or manually copied from a Windows install), but not for this issue cuz...

Smile For reference, this info (for *buntu and other dists) is also at: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/TFTP_flash#Linux
