Stable DD-WRT installation in my R8500 - was not easy!
I am able to recover from many misadventures with a good backup while trying to add a guest account. I have tried everything I can find - You tube videos, and links, FlashRouter, and the Wiki tutor. At least the latter does not lock up my router as most of the rest did.
When I go to DHCPD with the Wiki plan there is nothing in the drop down menu.
If I go to create or assign a bridge like most of the other tutors there is nothing to add.......
Most of the other tutors lock up my router.
Help!!!
How did you configure your router from the beginning after factory reset?
I'm running the latest version with VAP and everything is OK.
Few tips:
1) do not disable "Shortcut Forwarding Engine"
2) do not enable Beamforming or Airtime Fairness _________________ Netgear R9000 main router
RAX80 as AP
We can close this ticket. I appreciate everyone's advice for all this arduous trip, first dd-wrt install and then the guest account.
I finally made four columns of directions from four different authors and at each step chose by my judgment. It took a few tries but wallah! The problem is than not one of a dozen tutorials and videos matched my R8500 choices.
Thanks for all who helped along the way!
I can supply directions if someone else runs into this delima.
