Experts,

I tried flashing my ASUS RT-AC3100 router few months ago but it didn't work so I had to restore to factory firmware.

Is there an alternate to all the hoops I had to jump through to hold reset button, turn power on then off etc? Looks like this sequence is very finicky to say the least.

Please help me out!

Thanks!

Over the years, *all* ASUS routers have gotten much harder to reset and place into factory defaults. That's just the way ASUS has decided to deal w/ their routers (I think mostly to discourage third-party firmware, esp. conversion of its t-mobile routers, which has been a thorn in their side). And afaik, there's no magical way around it. Frankly, I'm still amazed we can usually get third-party firmware installed, given the difficulty.
