I keep seeing reference to users trying to use Ath2 on the 3200's. As far back as I can remember using Ath2 has always been discouraged as it was designed for radar detection.
Of late most builds will actually make Ath2 disappear if it is enabled. If Ath2 is enabled on an older build it will try to enable on an upgrade to the more recent builds. At the first reboot it will disappear from the GUI but continue to transmit and cause strange problems in the router.
I have found that I had to reset and install an older build, disable Ath2 and then upgrade to a newer build. Failing to ensure Ath2 is disabled caused numerous strange WiFi problems. Even though it did not appear in the GUI when I checked with Acrylic it was still active. If however it does show in the GUI and is disabled all is well.
Bottom line; If you want to use Ath2 don't use any recent builds, but better yet don't use Ath2.

Suggestion to Guru's;

I am seeing recent posts regarding 32X and use of Ath2 causing CPU High usage problems. I am not surprised by this as I noticed similar problems in the 3200 and the reason for my initial post regarding this.

Obviously all the posts regarding "Do not enable Ath2" are falling on deaf ears. Or it could be that people are upgrading from an earlier version having Ath2 enabled even if not in use and if so don't realize that it will disappear from GUI on newer builds.

I am not sure if you can SSH or Telnet into a router to disable Ath2 but if there is a command that works it would be great to know as resetting, loading an older build, disabling Ath2, and then upgrading is a royal pain.

My suggestion is that this glitch be added to the upgrade Stickies and if there is a simple way (SSH and/or Telnet) it should be included.

The problem is that the builds don't play well together I've tried to elaborate what works in this post. https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=318478

Its a fix for both the CPU, and the Radio troubles
Although I've only tested on wrt3200acm. I don't own a 32x.
