I have a Linksys E3000 that I would like to put to good use. If it's on stock firmware, do I need to follow the directions exactly in the wiki and flash older builds working up to recent builds or can I go directly to the most recent build as long as it has -e3000 in the name?

For example, from stock firmware can I upload dd-wrt.v24-43845_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e3000.bin through the gui as the first trail build flash?

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2020/07-18-2020-r43845/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-43845_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e3000.bin

I'd appreciate if someone could please confirm or correct my assumption.

Thank you.

We have experts on this forum regarding this router and I hope they will chime in.

But I would start with the 21676 mini build as outlined in the wiki.

From there maybe follow the wiki or step to 2.6 mini 35531, then K3.X mega 35531 then to latest K3.X (which actually uses K4.4)

Always research the build threads if it is safe for your router

Thanks for responding egc. I followed the "K3.x upgrade" section of the wiki. It worked perfectly and now have the E3000 up and running as a client bridge.

1.Start with a hard reset, then load from the GUI (Admin->Firmware Upgrade):
2. K2.6_21676_mini_e3000, wait 5 minutes, hard reset, then load from the GUI:
3. K2.6_21676_mega_nv60K, wait 5 minutes, hard reset, then load from the GUI:
4. K3.x_21676_mega_nv60K, wait 5 minutes, hard reset
5. Now any newer K3.x_mega build can be flashed from the GUI (use the trailed build for recent builds)

The K3.x (now K4.x) trailed builds were meant to be flashed from stock, but whether or not that would be an issue I have not tested yet. I have a bricked E4200 v1 coming from Canada in the next week or so that I may test this on.
