Sorry digging up this thread again, but the issue persists on my DIR-882 A1, firmware 45229 (tried some older 4xxxx versions as well). Everything connects as usual, but my Android phone (Samsung S9+) hangs often (still connected but no data transfer). To turn my rounter into an AP, I followed the tutorial on the DD-WRT wiki. This does not happen on Stock Firmware.

I'm using the device as an Access Point, directly wired to the gateway. The stock firmware doesn't support AP mode properly (there are issues such as UPNP blocking), but wifi is good.
DD-WRT would be preferable, but it does suffer from these hangs making wifi almost unusable.

I'm a bit worried about trying OPENWRT, as I don't have much experience using it without LuCI and I worry it may brick my router. Does anyone know if I install OPENWRT, can I revert to stock later via emergency room? Can someone who installed it tell me their experience?

Thank you! (PS: I'll probably never buy D-Link again)

I don't have your router, but generally the idea is always go back to stock first.

Never try to directly flash from DD-WRT to OpenWRT or vice versa.

My DIR-882 has firmware 45229. Other than some random disconnection (seemed caused by other device disconnection), which was my only issue with recent builds, it is indeed running well. I don't have the described problem with any android devices in the family.

Check out the QCA BEST WIFI SETTINGS

Hope this help.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I also followed "QCA BEST WIFI SETTINGS" to set most of my advanced wifi settings on my DIR-882 (r44715) and wireless connexion is way more stable and performant than with default settings. I get between 400 and 500 mbps throughput with iperf3 (2 streams, 30s) between my 2015 macbook and the router.

However, i would like to ask a question about TX Power setting. I saw in D-link document that maximum allowed transmission power (EIRP) for 2,4 Ghz is 19 dBm and 22dBm for 5 Ghz. Some guides suggest that it's possible to set a maximum value of 30dBm for TX Power and i tested the maximum values allowed by my router. The result is that i can set TX Power to a maximum of 28 dBm for 2,4 Ghz and 29 dBm for 5 Ghz.

My questions are:

- Is it safe for the router to set TX Power to the maximum allowed of 28/29 dBm ? Any possible impact on its lifespan ?

- Does-it improve performance in any way ?

- I there safety recomandations regarding high TX Power value ?

Thanks in advance for your help
