I just updated my buffalo wrx 600 dhp router to the latest firmware and now inly have a power light on it. No diag and I can't seem to get it into firmware recovery mode. I waited at least 5 minutes ( or however long it took me to empty and fill the dishwasher) any ideas?

By "latest" do you mean 40559 or 43718?

Not sure if the leds were sorted out yet. Can you access the router webUI?

No and the port lights are also out so I don't know if those are active.

Have you tried resetting the router via reset button? Not 30/30/30, just press and hold for about 10 seconds or so and release. Only other option is de-brick.

That did not occur to me, i have been doing a 30 second reset trying to get it into firmware recovery mode and not being able to get into it.
I am spent for tonight though. I will give this a try after work tomorrow.
First time i have had this much issue with an update but its been about a year since last update.

So i tried to just reset it without luck also.
Not used to having to try to get one of these into firmware recovery mode. Is that just by holding reset after power cycling it?

I think you should be able to use the TFTP method in the wiki I linked, which does not mention using any buttons (reset, WPS, AOSS, etc.)

I think for the first time i have witnessed a buffalo router death. Contrary to what i first thought the port lights are all on, all at the same time just rather dim compared to what i am used to seeing.
I have tried booting the router a few times without luck and tried getting into firmware recovery mode without any luck.
Despite the port lights being on it seems there is no actual activity. I got out my very old 10/100 switch which has really visible port lights and the light for the port this router was connected to never light up. So i think the ports on the router arent really ever coming on.

Power supply failure or hardware failure, that is the question. Also, if it bricked, and reverting to an older or stock firmware via TFTP method doesn't work, then it's probably dead. I don't know if this particular model has a serial header or any serial recovery method to try.
