i already fixed the crash of the userspace daemon too. this wasnt included in the testbuild yet, but i made some test with another user last night to catch that error (and others). for the free ram etc. do not just take a look on free ram. buff/cache can be counted as usable memory too. and depending how many files you access at the same time smb may allocate alot of caches. (vlc does seem to open alot of blocks from the same file at the same time while playing) and its getting worse if smb3 is involved. smb2 only doesnt take that much memory. attached is a newer testversion

Thanks BrainSlayer,

The new version (43731) still has the user space SIGSEGV for me:

The easiest way I can make it happen is:
In Windows Explorer
1. go to \\192.168.1.1\usb_dsk
2. browse into some directories
3. click on the address bar the '192.168.1.1' part.
4. goto step 2 until you see it fail.
You see the SIGSEGV immediately on the Syslog.
Windows takes a bit and then says "A remote proceure call (RPC) error occurred."

mrjcd, did you try setting the versions to min:2, max:3.11?
BrainSlayer found that it may be required in some cases to get the share to work with Win10.

min protocol mus be set to SMB2 in ddwrt gui otherwise windows will fail. Windows try first SMB2 and then goes for SMB3. at the end it will use SMB3, confirmed in logs and using wireshark. And there si no way you can disable SMB2 on windows10... Only SMB1...

43671 requires router nvram reset. Dnsmasq will not start up with the old dnsmasq.conf file. At least I have not tried just clicking save and apply on the basic setup page and services page.

This is the offending line from the dnsmasq.conf file
Code:
dhcp-range=192.168.1.100,192.168.1.1,192.168.1.50,255.255.255.0
,1440m

Going to reset the configs and check

EDIT: reset did not fix it. DHCP broken on R7800 on this test image.

Indeed, strange. I've already emailed BrainSlayer about it. That whole snafu with opening up the dhcp configuration for class A and B subnets must've had an error somewhere in there.

Router connects PPPOE on wan, but no wired/wireless client connected to router get internet.

I can confirm what kernel panic is mentioning. got following errors in syslog

build 43761

dnsmasq error -
getting this line in syslog approximately every 2 seconds

Jul 11 21:08:00 R7800 user.info : dnsmasq : maybe died, we need to re-exec it
Jul 11 21:08:00 R7800 daemon.crit dnsmasq[2176]: inconsistent DHCP range at line 8 of /tmp/dnsmasq.conf
Jul 11 21:08:00 R7800 daemon.crit dnsmasq[2176]: FAILED to start up

similarly smdb shows following error.

SMDB error -

Jan 1 05:30:50 R7800 local5.err ksmbd: [ksmbd-worker/1645]: ERROR: Recv() error Invalid input data or parameter [-7]
Jan 1 05:30:50 R7800 local5.err ksmbd: [ksmbd-manager/1642]: ERROR: WARNING: child process exited abnormally: 1645
Jan 1 05:30:50 R7800 local5.err ksmbd: [ksmbd-manager/1642]: ERROR: Fatal IPC error. Terminating. Check dmesg.

this error is during router reboot. after this there are no errors except

Jan 1 05:30:39 R7800 user.err wsdd2[946]: error: wsdd-mcast-v4: wsd_send_soap_msg: send
Jan 1 05:30:39 R7800 user.err wsdd2[946]: error: wsdd-mcast-v6: wsd_send_soap_msg: send
Jan 1 05:30:39 R7800 user.err wsdd2[946]: error: wsdd-mcast-v6: wsd_send_soap_msg: send

these errors repeat till NTP sync happens, once router clock is synced over ntp, these smdb errors stop.

had to roll back to 43731 as client had not internet.
