Attempting to flash the provided initial ddwrt file results in the following error: "This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product."
I've found a way to permanently (?) alter the board ID to enable the flashing of stock Netgear (non-Charter) firmware by activating telnet via a tool called telnetenable2, connecting via telnet, changing the board id by running a few commands, and then uploading the standard firmware.

you might need to flash the smaller file initially, 13MB file, then upgrade to latest. attached to this post. i've bought many used R6300v2CH and thats the only file that would flash initially.

Kong recommended not to change board ID, i would stick to that.
I've managed to brick mine (flashing power light) and nothing I seem to do will restore it. Tried flashing every firmware file (including CH) via TFTP and nmrpflash. I'm guessing altering my board id and the recovery process may be conflicting. Ping is successfull with ttl=100.
