Erratic wifi speed on 2.4ghz

TP-Link C1900 router

I noticed that I get unreliable wifi speeds when I connect with 2.4ghz to my TP-Link C1900. 5ghz seems more reliable.
It seems to have become worse in newer releases.
Anyone else noticed this issue? Also the problem gets worse if I have not rebooted the router for few days.
Noticed it on multiple laptops/phones.

I've attached output from iperf using 2.4ghz. Bandwidth suddenly drops to 0.
ddwrt status page shows CPU at 0.04. Iperf server is not busy/loaded.
