hi everyone here
i have read all your fourms about how to unbricked asus routers,i even read all the main sites about it too.
but nothing works and nothing helps.

my asus rt-88u was nice working and amazing , i was installing merlin and ddwrt untill something happend when i was reseting it and my son did something next to me,i did not know where did i click or where my son click the mouse next to me.
i had a web page that tell me :

asustek - cfe mini webserver.

and there were 2 links reset and erase nvrm ( something like that, that what i can remember untill now )
i clicked one of these 2 links.
and thats it,my router goes in a coma.
when i start it,i got only the power light, after one power led flash so fast.
and not 30,30,30 sec reset with the wps or with reset button work, nor Firmware Restoration tools could catch the router .
i love this router so much,i paid so much for it.
what i did wrong ?.
any way to fix it ?
if i power the router i can find ddwrt and sometimes i can log in to it,but i can not flash anything on it.
For god sake do not ask me to reset it,cause it does not reset at all,and nothing will flash at all.
i am not a guru like some members here.

Three of those links discuss how to put it in recovery mode. READ THEM. Hopefully, your 30/30/30 didn't completely brick it and it's recoverable. You shouldn't have to do serial recovery on an Asus, but it is a last resort.

These three seem to be the best options, as best I can tell. You will need to know what wire is what on the cable to connect it properly. You do not want to connect the Vcc wire. The serial flash wiki I linked previously has other recommended cables.

I'm not upset with you. I presume by the link you posted that there is likely a language barrier and English is not your primary language Smile I would first try to put the router in Recovery mode per the linked articles. If the mini CFE webserver doesn't want to work, the Asus restoration tool is your next option. If that does not work, then try TFTP. Last resort is serial recovery. You may need an unmanaged switch between your PC and the router LAN port to make it work. Also for TFTP, tftpd32 v4.52 32-bit standard edition server/client software with "Use Anticipation Window of 1024 bytes" under settings for TFTP checked might help.

Some devices use the WPS button to do a hard reset instead of the reset button. I don't think this one uses the WPS button to put it into recovery mode.

Quote:
3. Set up the Router Rescue Mode
3-1 Unplug the router's power cord.
3-2 Press the Reset button.

Keep long pressing the Reset button and plug the cord to DC IN at the same time.

Notice: Please DO NOT release the Reset button until the Rescue Mode is enabled.

3-3 The router turns to the Rescue mode when you see the power indicator light is slowly flashing.

Asus routers are generally hard to brick because of the built-in recovery methods. Everything I know that may or may not apply to your situation has been typed out or linked. If you want more than that, you will have to send the router directly to me to recover it for you.

not sure if you have already read this but on ASUS website they have a guide showing you how to use the rescue mode

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1000814/

the guide goes through step by step

also, the link below is your router's drivers/firmware/tools
