CFE is the bootloader specific to pretty much all Broadcom SoC hardware. Doesn't matter what firmware is involved. I would have to acquire an RT-N66 and do some reading to offer any specific help. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

So I have the Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r43516 big (06/25/20
running atop CFE1.0.1.9 ( bl_version=1.0.1.9 )
And .... both 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz radios are working.
In overview the sequence was:
1: Reflash back to ASUS 3.0.0.4 (actually quite new)
2: Use ASUSWRT to reflash to Merlin (NB both wireless active)
2a: check CFE level, it's still on 1.0.1.2. (so the ASUS flash didn't update it)
3: Upgrade CFE
4: reboot (still Merlin) helpfully Merlin shows the CFE level as part of it's status/version screen (DDWRT does not?)
..confirm now on CFE1.0.1.9 (2014 vintage !)
5: Use upgrade (GUI Button) to DD-WRT v3.0-r43516 big
6: Manual power-cycle + WPS switch to clear RAM
This is by no means a full set of instructions. Each part has instructions elsewhere, it's just an overview of the maze.
(I need to make updates in a few more places to make this issue clear)
