Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.
Notes:
• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix from December, since then various revisions including recently 7040.
• In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed, with WSD support.
• VAP issue is fixed! For any Wireless Mode, create a VAP and both ath0/ath1 should now function properly.
• Local DNS option removed from Services->DNSMasq in changesets 43080 and 43081; ref: #7092
• DHCP and DNS help (English) updated in 43083; ref: #7091
• WireGuard: Policy Based Routing, Kill Switch, Inbound Firewall, Naming of Peers, Status, Key, Guides. Thanks egc!
Issues:
• There may be remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.
Important:
• If reporting issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog/serial output, strace etc.
• For firewall issues provide 'iptables -L', 'iptables -t nat -L' and the /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search existing SVN tickets before opening a new one. Before reporting, reset and manually setup (no nvram backup).
• Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with relevant configuration information.

I haven't noticed any problems with smb on my R7800 using any of the latest builds.
Someone with the required skills and necessary account might want to make an error report concerning the funny characters in the JFFS information on both pages where that info is displayed. It's been present for some time in the latest versions.
A lot of bugs get squashed lately, such that I have never even noticed, and new builds churned out, but obviously it requires more than just mentioning it in a post on the forum.
The software is great, though. I've been using it on several routers over the last 10 years or longer. Ever since I had a WRT-54GL. I used to still have mine somewhere, but last winter I gave it to a 'recycling' centre, where they pass it on.
My brother in law still uses a WRT-54GL running a very old DD-WRT build his sons uploaded back when they were teenagers

I only recently enabled JFFS on my R9000 and I'm not seeing any funny characters in the menu. It apparently isn't a universal issue.

Status: Up for 8 minutes and already 2 sudden reboots when accessing my USB stick which has a standard ext2 jffs partition.
ksmbd seems to go from bad to worse (or is it just me?)
hmm in general there is something dodge with ext2 support..
my R7000 has a tricky boot since 42054 due to ext2 flash thumb drive... _________________ Atheros

Also had sudden reboots with 43306 on broadcom device when accessing smb usb share. Probably same with current build, will test shortly.

I have a 2GB thumb drive on my R7800 (running the latest f/w). It has two partitions which are both identified as ext4 by the router (USB page). I partitioned that thumb drive many years ago, but remember that at the time ext4 was identified not for what it was, but as ext2 by the DD-WRT build I used back then (may have been on a different router as well, viz. a WZR-HP-G300NH). Or perhaps it was the other way around ... ext2 identified as ext4 ...
One partition is /jffs and the other /opt.
/opt has a few directories that I have used on and off for mounting another drive connected to the router.
The JFFS2 partition holds the DNSMasq.leases file as well as DNSMasq.custom with my static IP assignments. The latter file I have edited in place via Samba and have had no problems doing so.
