• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix from December, since then various revisions including recently 7040.
• In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed, with WSD support.
• VAP issue is fixed! For any Wireless Mode, create a VAP and both ath0/ath1 should now function properly.

Issues:
• There may be remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.
Important:

• For firewall issues provide 'iptables -L', 'iptables -t nat -L' and the /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search existing SVN tickets before opening a new one. Before reporting, reset and manually setup (no nvram backup).
• Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with relevant configuration information.

Router: Linksys EA8500
File/Kernel: r43217
Previous/Reset: r40559 - web Flashed No Reset
Mode/Status: Auto DHCP - Gateway
Issues/Errors: None
Uptime: 15m all seems OK.
Router/Version: TP-Link Archer C7 / v5
File/Kernel: DD-WRT v3.0-r43217 std (05/22/20) / Linux 3.18.140-d4 #79336 Fri May 22 04:44:57 +04 2020 mips
Previous/Reset: tp-link stock (via wap with factory-to-ddwrt.bin)
Mode/Status: Gateway (have not tested WAN yet) / working
Issues/Errors: working great. two minor issues: 1) all wired Ethernet LEDs are lit while only two cables are actually connected. 2) There's also a weird issue in the UI, Wireless Security section. If you select 'WPA2 Personal' the 'WPA Shared Key' (and other options) field does not show. You need to also select 'WPA2 Personal with SHA256' and then de-select it for it to stick around.
Uptime: 2hs 48mins
--- UPDATE ---
VAPs don't seem to work.
Things I tried: 1) Create the VAP on ath0 and 2) ath1. 3) Different WPA/2/3 Personal settings for VAP. 4) Different Radio settings/freq/etc for both ath0 (2.4Ghz) and ath1 (5Ghz). 5) Turning it off and on again.
This is the wpa_supplicant out on my laptop:
Code:

may 23 00:22:49 xxxx wpa_supplicant[1904]: wlp61s0: CTRL-EVENT-SSID-TEMP-DISABLED id=0 ssid="xxxx" auth_failures=1 duration=10 reason=CONN_FAILED
Are there any logs in /tmp/var/log/messages for hostapd (logs are enabled in the service tab).I couldn't find anything.

Previous/Reset: Flashed from NG v1.0.5.14 via web, then nvram erase && reboot Mode/Status: Ok
Issues/Errors: ssh public key wouldn't "take" until after a reboot
I had run DD-WRT on this router previously, but saw performance, stability and connectivity issues. I finally reverted to Voxel's enhancement of the stock firmware, and then to NG's 1.0.5.14 due to its attention to a couple of CVEs.
With all of the positive comments I've been seeing from R9000 users recently, I've decided to try it again. I'm already seeing better performance and devices that could not connect before are connecting just fine.
The only issue I experienced was with setting a public key for password-less login to the shell. I expected it to work immediately, but it turns out a reboot of the router is required.
I also have an EA8500 running stock that I'll be re-flashing shortly. Hope it goes as well as the R9000 update did!
