Could someone make a testbuild for Tatsuya46 with this changes https://github.com/dissent1/r7800/commit/0cf2dc55e41ad078d3b6678eecd4878b1edfe9ec
to check qos behavior?

No problem so far, what are the improvements in htb QoS? I'm using hfsc and fq_codel since I've bought the R7800 and I don't noticed big troubles...

well looking at our ipq8064.dtsi http://svn.dd-wrt.com/browser/src/linux/universal/linux-3.18/arch/arm/boot/dts/qcom-ipq8064.dtsi#L180

compared to our ipq8065.dtsi http://svn.dd-wrt.com/browser/src/linux/universal/linux-3.18/arch/arm/boot/dts/qcom-ipq8065.dtsi#L111

ea8500 is ipq8064 without htb offset issue, r7800 ipq8065 does have the htb offset issue, the voltage table on 8064 is indeed a bit higher than 8065 for the 384mhz ~ 1.4ghz range...

i wonder...

I want range... is this true: if I disable the 5ghz band all the antenas go to 2.4ghz N signal. That would improve the range/speed?

I don't understand buying an ac2600 router for $200 or more and disabling the 5ghz radio.
Why not buy a single band or three for the price?

That's where the EA8500 will surprise you.
If you run across one --- that is what I would suggest Smile

because I don't have many devices which works in AC. Also, AC has shorter range than N. And I have a few devices far away. I've bought it exactly to don't need extenders... but I am trying to figure out the best config for range, if anyone can help.

n is on both bands, on 5ghz ac goes further cause of beamforming & much faster per range than 5ghz n (ie: -75 signal on both, the ac link is far faster). for settings see the link below in my sig.

ok thanks! I've tried without beamforming and AC range performance was worse than N for the same distance. Actually AC dropped while N was still present. Is beamforming full functioning in Nighthawk? Should I turn on both the single and the multiple?

Which settings of your should I check since I am receiving my internet signal from another router and then distributing it as another AP in my house (ie. virtual port)?

Sorry - With around 525 responses in this thread it's getting hard to follow.

Is the R7800 ready for public consumption? I'm leaning towards it over an EA8500 but if I break the wife's WiFi she'll break me Wink

Thanks,

If you're talking about stock firmware, yes. Personally, I don't find dd-wrt ready for prime time quite yet.
