The thing is, all of the stuff that normally would output to syslog, or a large percentage of the debugging stuff is NOT enabled by default in BS builds. Personally, I would love to see that only NTP sync failures only get logged and fuck everything else except it starting, dying, restarting. Nothing else. Kong was a little more attentive to these things...

Me too I’m in the same troub...ehm, situation. But last time I switched from Kong 402070 to BS build, the WAN stopped to acquire the IP, don’t ask why, I made a full reset and nothing changed, maybe somethings is different in the way the BS’s builds acquire the wan ip? Also the jffs2 space stopped working but the reset fixed it. Anyway I’m too lazy to insert all the fields/settings again so I switched back to 402070.

I think the limit is the security of the old builds, until they’re not secure it can be used, I’m still with a 2017 build on an old Buffalo router.

I just switched out my Main router (R6400v2) for the R7800 with BS 41643.
Full reset with "erase nvram && reboot"

I can only acquire WAN after reboot of the modem but that is normal because it has a different MAC Smile

Running fine at the moment, Wireless was not better than my R6400v2 until I used @MSOEngineers list now it is really better.

One observation I used N only for 2.4 GHz on Broadcom and all clients connect fine, however on this router I have to use N/G mixed otherwise some clients did not want to connect (I knew that of course Wink )

Even on r6300 a switch from Kong to BS caused difficulties with the WAN. I haven't put my r7800 as the gateway yet but from your experience I'll probably have the same problem.

The workaround for me is Setup->Advanced Routing->Operating Mode: switch to Router, Apply Settings, then back to Gateway, Apply Settings, then the WAN works until the next modem or router restart.

@msoengineer: Thanks for the warning at the top of the supported routers page. That would have saved me from the router database trap when I first tried dd-wrt.

Has anyone tried a Kong factory-to-ddwrt.img?

If not it is worth a try.

Hi guys, Im kinda new to this and have a few problems getting ddwrt going with the latest bs build 12/21. Everything is great but ipv6 and dslreports speedtest. When I try and run speedtest it throws up tons of errors regardless of browser or http https. When I try http it says no ipv6 connectivity and after running ipv6 tests it seems I dont have it working. I have enabled it on the router and I have comcast in florida and an ax200 intel wifi 6 card in my pc. Anyone care to help me get going.

Using old kong builds up to the last r40270 I seem to have a problem where on a reboot of the router some interfaces are missing from the bridges I configured. As a example, eth1.3 is missing from br1 ..

When I however use 'apply settings' the complete bridge config loads properly.
Note that I'm using a startup script to create my vlans.

Does someone know why this is happening ?

@kasperskie

I don't understand your VLAN setup. You have a bridge loop. Ports 5 and 6 are the CPU ports.

5 = eth0
6 = eth1

Both are member of VLAN1 and bridged to br0
