I'm having problems with my speed being way lower than it should be, currently using Kong's build r37495M [10/28/18].
TCP-Packet Priority: All unticked
Can anybody please suggest anything I can try to regain the speeds I should be getting?
Make sure the Shortcut Forwarding Engine is OFF on the Setup>basic setup tab
read my Best QCA Wifi settings for some tips to implement in my signature links.
TCP-Packet Priority: All 4 boxes should be checked
Then See my "QOS port priority" signature link below to Tatsuya46's suggested service priorities you need to add. Make sure they are added in the same order as Tatsuya46 has them listed.
Next, Setup>Networking>port setup section. Change all TX que lengths to 2. Setup>Basic Setup>Optional settings section- set the MTU to manual and use 1472 to help reduce latency. If you are using IPv6, change the MTU value on the Setup>IPv6 tab, too ,to 1472. Leave MTU at 1500 on the Setup>networking tab.
Administration>IP Filter Settings section- Use Cubic if it's an option.
Make sure your windows drivers are up-to-date too.
Also, the math Per Yngve Berg used is wrong, you don't need to convert bits to bytes.... DD-wrt QOS uses bits...
250Mbps is 250000 Kbps.
I would use 231250 as a start for DL limit. Depending on what latency does...you can tweak upwards or more likely downwards...
I've made all of the changes you listed, including the ones from the 2 links you listed from your signature.
I've been looking at this router for a few months now and accelerated my need for a new router over the weekend when the WAN port died on my R6400 so now I have added one of my LAN ports into the WAN vlan just to get it to work and I really don't like that. That Amazon deal was too good to pass up since they normally go for $229 on Amazon and $249 locally at Frys and Best Buy.
Looking forward to getting this new router this weekend and getting DD-WRT installed! What is the latest stable build I should look at?
I'm running Kong's 38750 on mine and seem to be doing well. I had issues with a couple of the previous builds.
The R7800 is a great DD-WRT device, for sure. _________________ Routing:.......Asus RT-AX88U (Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14) Switching:....Netgear GS608_V3 & GS605_V4, TrendNet TEG-S82G & TEG-S50G
Which build date is that? It looks like Kong has 10-28-2018 in the main directory and 2-19-2019 in the Test directory.
r38750M was 02/14/19
r38835M is still in Kong test directory at this time but that could change at any time...whenever MR. K decides to upload a new test build.
and also r38835M build date is 02/18/19 ---- date of file on his server is 02/19/19 ...... they are NOT always the same.

You won't find that one. Test is 38835. It works fine.
Flash stock to ddwrt.img file. It will probably ask something about older file, hit ok.
Once on DD-WRT telnet in and do nvram erase && reboot.
No need to use .bin file.
Use the .bin file for future upgrades.
<Kong> has auto update feature, ddup --flash-latest
from command line.

So install the latest test and I should be fine or should I just install the latest stable? I just want to be sure everything will be stable and I won't notice any issues with speeds, etc.

In Kong main IPQ806X directory (what they are calling stable) builds are still on K3.18.x
