I have set up my brand new WRT3200ACM with v.3.0-r42819 coming from stock as per this guide:

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_access_point

Same subnet AP instructions. I have 3200 ACM on another floor handling DHCP and such.

Everything works fine, until I turn on Wifi security. once I do, Windows 10 and iPhone 7 will not join to this unit.

Windows 10 says "Can't connect to this network", and iPhone just keeps asking for a new password.

On the Wireless security page, I have WPA2 Personal selected only and CCMP-128 only selected. I have verified password is correct.

Right now, to test, I have 5GHz security turned off, so I can Wifi connect to the device to ensure it's not a radio issue, and 2.4Ghz (ath1) configured as above. I am more used to r24 stuff, so I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. Anyone running this mode with WPA2 enabled?

Did you reboot after saving the changes or just apply?

And, I might be running too new a version of the firmware. I am happy to back down if someone else has a version working in this mode.

I have done both.

Neither works.

WPA2 Personal and CCMP-128 is very standard, so no problems there.

The wireless network mode for ath2 is set to disabled?

ath0 and ath1 have separate SSIDs for now? Password is at least 8 characters?

I thought so as well.

Try removing the underscore the from the SSIDs, or try reducing the amount of characters.

If you are using lots of special characters try a simple password just for testing.

Switched 2.4GHz SSID to BrainSecureWifiExt
Password is just Upper and lower case, not special chars.

Apply Settings: Can't connect
Reboot: Connect, but can't get to anything, and then connection drops.

Switched 2.4GHz to TestWifi

Apply: Can't find name in list
Reboot: Connects, but no traffic, and then disconnects

This is the build thread for Marvell r42819 with user feedback.

This post may help you for build options, though r42819 shouldn't be giving you this much trouble.

I'm sorry, really tired right now. After the flash from stock firmware to DD-WRT did you perform a hardware reset?

Have you manually specified your wireless channels?

I performed a hardware reset after flashing.

2.4GHz is specified to be channel 11.

I am running r42847 on my 3200 but refuse to use the 2.4Ghz as it has been nothing but trouble.
Yesterday I I tried to activate the 2.4Ghz and could not connect my Tab4 Android. Didn't get too concerned as I'm used to it not working on my 3200.
Since however r42847 was working so well on my 5Ghz network I decided to try it out on my 1900's. That was a mistake. Although the WDS links came up well (Many recent releases WDS didn't work on 1900) my Tab4 Android could not connect to any of my 2.4Ghz AP's (Disabled/Disconnected). My cameras and ESP8266 devices did connect but some would periodically drop and re-connect (not a new thing).
I tried multiple reboots on all devices, but nothing changed. Doubled checked all my settings as going from such an old build on the 1900's many settings were different.
Finally I dropped the 1900's back to r31924 and everything has been rock solid for the past 12 hours, no drops or reconnects.
As you can see from my profile I don't use the 2.4Ghz on my 3200 and doubt if I ever will. Again I agree with the GURU's, the 3200 works for some applications but not for anything to do with 2.4Ghz. Get a separate Router/AP for that purpose.
