This thread is for feedback on beta build r42872 for developers and users (configuration, status, errors & logs).
Avoid discussions, create a new thread for specific problems, questions or use search as this is not for support.
Please report hardware model, version, operating & wireless modes along with file name (factory, webflash).

Important: if reporting issues, provide applicable info (syslog output, 'dmesg', 'cat /var/log/messages', serial output etc.)
or place into an SVN ticket. For firewall issues, also provide iptables info ('iptables -L', 'iptables -t nat -L', & the /tmp/.ipt file).
Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with any relevant configuration information.

Flashing any beta build assumes you are responsible, have researched, know the risks and recovery methods.
If you don't understand your router, which file or recovery methods do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Downloads: (DD-WRT website) HTTPS & FTP

CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (or 'curl -k {file URL} -o {file}') with http (not https) or ftp. Then 'write {file} linux'.

Changelogs: SVN changelog since last build: r42847
* WireGuard! New GUI Tunnel options have appeared since r42872, script no longer required!

Notes: 1. CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix from December, since then various revisions including recently 7040.
2. In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed, with WSD support.

Issues: 1. Client Mode, Client Bridge or WDS + VAP appears to break ath0/ath1 from r42514 onward, possibly earlier (r42287).
2.) There are remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.

Example Template:
Code:
[b]Router/Version: [/b]
[b]Mode: [/b]
[b]Status: [/b]
[b]Errors: [/b]
[b]File: [/b]
[b]Previous: [/b]
[b]Kernel: [/b]
[b]Reset: [/b]

WRT3200 r42847 -> r42872
No problems encountered in upgrade.
All still working as before.

Attempted to upgrade 1900V1 r31924 - > r42872
Upgrade went well but still problems as with most recent builds.

1 - Some Android devices won't connect 2.4Ghz unless mode is set to "Mixed"

2 - Adding a vap to a 5Ghz client Bridged / WDS kills the 5Ghz totally on the remote router.

3 - As with most recent builds 5Ghz WDS will not function on a remote device with the newer builds. Clien Bridged works fine.
As a side note to this problem, if I disable the 2.4Ghz on the remote WDS starts working and connects properly.

Opened Ticket #7056 regarding these problems

Do you have Android clients as well?
Does it ask for a password every now and then?

No android clients that use NAS. But I do have an old Windows XP client that can not access the NAS due to it asking for credentials. I've assumed its due to XP being obsolete, so I don't even bother stating it as a problem.

Probably not relevant to your question, but I do have an older IOS 9.3.5 pad that can access the NAS fine.

Sorry I'm not able to help.

Upgraded from 42015 (which was running great) via GUI without any problems; uptime is 8 hours. No issues other than the usual red http authorization/authentication errors in syslog which I've been seeing for at least a year now. Performance is excellent (360mbs/sec down and 264mbs/sec up with Wireguard VPN) and feels very snappy.

I had issues previously with 42335 and 42278 where after about 2.5 days, performance tanked. WIFI explorer showed all four radios (2 x 2.4ghz and 2 x 5ghz) broadcasting but my Apple clients could only connect to the 2.4ghz radios. No traffic on the 5ghz radios and nothing out of the ordinary in syslog. I got spooked and stayed on 42015 for the last couple months. I will report back if this happens with 42878 in a couple days.

With everyone home from college and WFH now, it's a tier-1 support fire drill at my house if the WIFI or internet goes down....Smile

Linksys WRT3200ACM: gateway mode, DNSMasq for DNS and DHCP, Wireguard client (Mullvad), Firewall enabled, QoS enabled HTB-CAKE, PBR enabled (SFE disabled). WIFI: 2.4ghz: NG-mixed, 20mhz channel width, channel 1, WPA2-CCMP-128. 5ghz: AC/N mixed, 80mhz channel width, channel 149+6, WPA2-CCMP-128.

Linksys WRT1900ACSv1: router mode, hardwired ethernet lan to WRT3200ACM above. WIFI: 2.4ghz: NG-mixed, 20mhz channel width, channel 11, WPA2-CCMP-128. 5ghz: AC/N mixed, 80mhz channel width, channel 36+6, WPA2-CCMP-128.

Clients: Apple MACOS, IOS, Apple TV, Chromecast Audio, Eufy doorbell, Lutron Caseta, Axis Camera, Samsung TV, Nest thermostat....

I'm not sure. There are several references on the internet to the Nest being a Linux based OS, but I don't know for sure.

Upgraded went well no issues WRT32X - all my new China type WALL Plugs/Switches also have 4 GE switches that work very well of Wifi devices 2.4gz working fine. I saw that 5GZ does not even make it to my room so I switched from VHT80 to Dynamic 20/40 and it started to ask for my password on my Apple devices and Android , reverted to Wide HT40 and my devices connected very fast back.

Instant regret.
Jumped from 41954 (which for me is the most stable so far) to 42872. WRT3200ACM. Vivaldi. Clean install. Same partition.

Unbound seems to crash turning it on a clean env. Clients take way too long to connect (at least on 5Ghz band). Sometimes there's brief disconnections. No internet at first due no IPv4 pulled from stock modem, Release/Renew broke the stuff and I had to reset the unit power cycling it SEVERAL TIMES. Longer and noticeable times to boot (even with Boot Wait disabled). The new implementation of update the view when picking some limitant options from a pull down field seems to hold other values ok (previously saved but not commited) and some not, not consistency on that.

Real world browsing is very very clunky.. I can see it on big size web multimedia elements like images (on faster servers like FB, G, Apple. Sometimes pictures won't load. I suspect unbound messing in there (default config).

Cake still providing a funny bufferbloat.. still holding the oldie but goldie FQ_CODEL.

Overall is very dissapointing right now.

I had to fall back to 42015. The same issue popped up after about 18 hours that I previously had with 42335 and 42278 (see above). WIFI explorer showed all four radios (2 x 2.4ghz and 2 x 5ghz) broadcasting but my Apple IOS clients could not connect - everyone's iPhone started asking for the wifi password. My MacBook was still working and the Apple TV finished streaming the movie we were watching. The problem happened during the movie at some point. There were pages of these messages in the syslog on both Linksys devices:
