I am finding it very difficult to find the latest fully functional version for the older hardware of WR1043ND, since today it is not reliable to use the router database...

If you have a router of that model, could you please help me by answering the title question?

Thanks!!!

I flashed r41786 std (12/23/19) on my v1.8 device and it works flawlessly.

Thanks for your answers guys! Just to take into account for future occasions, is there any "method" to find out this in a similar way that used to be the router database or nowadays it's just reading the thread of each build that is coming out and see if someone tested that router model?

Follow the new build release threads. The router database is still not updated, and doesn't quite match the device wikis or any other information for initial flash and such, and new users get themselves in trouble because they immediately go to the database without reading the information that says not to rely on it in the generic installation wiki.

Any other comments of this style, guys?

Thanks!

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I'm still interested in your answers more than ever.

The newer I found so far is r46220 here: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=327940

Pretty sure this is a v1:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1256889#1256761

EDIT: I was told there was no size issue for the v1, even though people flashing via CLI have noted otherwise. You can try reverting to stock with webrevert and then back to DD-WRT via factory-to-ddwrt.

I'm just reviving this thread because I'm still interested in this info.

If anyone else is still using this version of hardware, your feedback would be appreciated.

In the meantime, I'll keep looking for feedback on this in the New Build threads.

Thanks!

Please consider flashing and reporting the current release as continuing to ask the question you could successfully answer yourself is not going to get you any further down the road, most likely, as nobody is reporting on this device:

New Build - 06/07/2022 - r49113

Unfortunately, the reason for my insistence is that I cannot risk doing experiments since it is the only device I have and I have it in use. But if that's the case, I guess I'll have to opt to continue with the current firmware version until I can replace the router with a new one.

Thank you once again for your reply and for the information @kernel-panic69.

Well, I understand that main routers are hard to do unknown stuff in, but you know from the outset that;

1) your current build is 100% filled with known unpatched exploits, on your head it is to keep running it.
2) the best way to upgrade with less downtime possible is to grab a text human readable config with nvram show /tmp/mybackup.text and grabbing that file to desktop for consultation of reconfiguration from scratch,
3) that upon upgrade one resets router to defaults and re configures from scratch.
Always upgrade to latest possible, never restore backups from significantly different build revisions and if shit hits the fan you can always revert to known working build.

Also ctrl+f5 on browser to force clear cache, UI has had major work done and cached browser side data is always getting in the way.

Oh no, @the-joker, thanks. I wasn't really referring to downtime, but according to a conversation I had in another thread (https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=331321), my hardware is quite problematic with some recent versions. My fear is not about taking it out of activity momentarily, but rather that I am afraid of bricking the only device I have.

Thanks for your comments.

Just flashed a v1.8 to the 49268 from stock for testing purposes, mostly regarding firmware upgrade and image size concerns; you may wish to wait on the next release. I have not verified if firmware image size of webflash.bin file is still oversized as previously noted in other threads.
