If 8MB Flash is an issue then I prefer that BrainSlyer remove OpenVPN (it's too slow for 8MB Routers) and have WireGuard installed. I currently setup a Travel Router Broadcom 8MB E3000 on Build 42132 with WireGuard and can get +30Mb/s. To get those speeds on OpenVPN you need a Dual-Core Arm SoC Router.
OPENVPN is still the standard and since Wireguard is still in beta and testing few companies have implemented it for mass consumption.
r7800 upgrade from r41954 to r42287:
Web upgrade. No reset.
Samba started properly, no need to hit "apply settings"! Thanks BS!
Set SAMBA protocol to Min:3.00 max:3.11. Win 10 clients are happy. Did not try benchmarking.
QoS still needed "Apply settings" to start working.
Everything else seems to work.
DIR-859. Upgrade from r41954 to r42287:
Web upgrade. No reset.
Used as AP. Working OK.

My question was about WireGuard missing on 8MB Routers and if space is an issue WireGuard offers better performance. OpenVPN ~5Mb/s vs WireGuard ~30Mb/s on a 480Mhz Single-Core SoC Router.
Myself I I've gone further and replaced 3xOpenVPN (IPVanish) connections to 3xWireGuard (StrongVPN) connection on 2x R7800 running 24/7. I do have a one month superscription with StrongVPN. If all is good by then I will buy a one year subscription from StrongVPN. I plan to still keep IPVanish since support told me they will have WireGuard implemented this year.
I will update if WireGuard goes South on me. In the mean time I'm enjoying the speed and security that WireGuard offers. _________________ Home Network on Telus 1Gb PureFibre - 10GbE Copper Backbone

Working as a WAP. Coming from previous public release. Working fine, but no wireguard.
On my E2000 (8 Mb flash) Wireguard used to be present. I will update this weekend and have a look, Wireguard has a low memory foot print but it is possible that BS added wsdd2 and removed Wireguard.
But I would be in favour of replacing PPTP with Wireguard, Wireguard seems to be gaining in popularity, it will be incorparated in Linux K 5.6.

I will keep an eye on things and contact BS
I checked the config file for the WR1043ND V2 (that seems als used for the V#) and there is no:
CONFIG_WIREGUARD=y
So Wireguard support seems left out, other 8 MB routers do still have it (Like E2000 and E 3000)

There's feature requests that are 11 years old that I have no idea if they were ever fully or partially implemented. Just my thoughts. Those tickets need to be investigated and closed as applicable. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Router: R7800
Build: 42287 but present on all tested versions thus far.
Connected to router via ethernet. Wifi enabled but unused. Phone connected via USB port 1.
Scenario: Default settings, only adjusted WAN connection style and enabled logging and JFFS. Nothing of note in the log that seems to coincide with data crash. Phone asks to trust computer (expected) and hands out IP address to router as expected. Initial connections (CNN, etc) are functional as expected.
On moderate data use (speedtest.net) approximately 5 seconds of continuous data use is possible, then the socket just seems to collapse. Speedtest errors out, no obvious error is seen on the router or phone, although on several occasions router has rebooted itself 30-45 seconds after socket collapse (all lights flash pink). Prior to the reboot, access to the management pages and review of logs was in progress with no indication of impending reboot. Nothing informative in log, no new entries at all that might pertain to socket collapse.
Phone still indicates that data connection is active, but it is lost, no DNS will resolve, no data traffic shows on phone when attempting connections.

Formerly working Samba broken
Well, I reset to factory, and got the Wi-Fi working again, but the Samba still no longer behaves like the kong version I had been using. I can't shares to show up. Either on windows or debian.
