I updated my Belkin-F5D8235-4v2 router with a firmware in Nov. The router's working in general. The webGUI is accessible but renders with some non-navigable page.

I did the 30-30-30 hard reset. Everything looks fine but not the GUI. It seems to ask me to change username, password with unreadable texts and non-working submit button. I couldn't get the exact version since it's no longer readable from the GUI but the firmware is from Nov 2019 as I remembered.

Now, I'm stuck with the initial state. Is there a way to do a firmware upgrade in this case or any fix?

I tried to
ssh/telnet: not accessible.

tftp:
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/TFTP_flash
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Recover_from_a_Bad_Flash

but nothing works.

Any suggestion?

1) Telnet won't enable until you set a password for the webUI.
2) What browser are you using and what OS platform is the computer you are using to configure the device?
3) You may have flashed a bad build. You may wish to try TFTP/Recover from bad flash to today's build:

1) acked. Thanks. Do you know how to submit the form via URL (GET?) so that I can set the password from the initial page and then telnet will be available?
2) Chrome & Safari on Mac. Tried also Chrome on Windows10
3) definitely if I can find a way to flash Sad.

I tried tftp. No luck so far. I attached the screenshot here in case anyone know what to do.

You may wish to try IE or Edge on Win10, IE may actually work better OR Firefox ESR / Waterfox Classic OR Opera OR Pale Moon. The FF ESR Portable version in this post in another thread works:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1184556#1184556

As far as TFTP, not entirely sure if you can ping, power, put this one, but I found a thread on how to de-brick that might wind up being of some use if you can't seem to flash it normally or get TFTP to work:

Edge on Win10 resulted the same to the screenshot above.
I'll try FF ESR. Hope it works. It looks like a similar problem from the screenshot in another post. Hope it works. I'll report here the result.

Thanks,

FF ESR, WaterFox didn't work but I got it fixed !!

It looks like just the GUI's messed up but all functions are working. So, I modified the html code basically by adding

<input type='submit'> inside the <form> tag. -- change the initial username & password. -- It worked.

Similarly for the firmware upgrade, go to "http://192.168.1.1/Upgrade.asp"
change the html code on the browser by adding <input type='submit'> inside the <form> tag again. Select the updated firmware:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2019/12-10-2019-r41686/Belkin-F5D8235-4_v2/

The new one has no problem with GUI. Problem solved!! Thank you all.

Cheers,
