Hallo,

s'cuse me!
Here in english:
Hello
my two iPad 4 with iOS 10 are not able to connect to the 5GHz-WLan-network of my DIR-825b with DD-WRT.
It doesn't matter what DD-WRT as off is installed. I allways get an error "wrong password" (although the PW is correct) or "no connection possible". Connection to the 5GHz-Network of the Unitymedia ConnectBox is possible w/o any problems. So basicly the 5GHz-ability of the iPads 4is given. ConnectBox is gateway, the DIR-825b are APs. IPad 2018, Air 2 and iPhone 6, SE, 5S have no problems. 2,4GHz works with the iPads 4 w/o any problems either.
Is there anybody who has any advice where to change the settings of the DIR-825b to get rid of the problem?
Thx in advance.

what version are you running? What security protocol are you using? Can anything hookup wirelessly? Can you get internet on the 825 with Ethernet? If your using it as an AP did you turn off dhcp? Screen shot a few screens of your settings.

Hello Gallo,
thx for your reply.
Concerning your questions please see the attachments.
Yes as mentioned in the initial post iPhones and other iPads are able to get into INet via Wifi 2,4Ghz and 5GHz as well as my notebook via Lan. Only iPad 4 has the problem to use 5GHz of DIR-825b, 2,4GHz works fine. IPad 4 have no problem with the 5GHz-WLan of the Unitymedia ConnectBox. My problem is that there is no chance to compare the diffetent settings 'cause in the ConnectBox you only can set channel, Wifi-mode, channel-width and security. These data correspond.
If you need any further information, please ask.
Thx in advance.

I've had instances that certain channels don't behave well with some appliances
5ghz screenshots also please

Hello Gallo,
whichones you like to see. Wireless.pdf also shows 5GHz. I actually use channel 136+140. I tested different channels from 36 up to 140 w/o any success.
Thx for your reply.

@ervau: 1st, make sure to click the advanced settings box to expand wifi settings. See my signiture for best qca wifi settings to use and then for channels:
Code:

country DE: DFS-ETSI
   (2400 - 2483.5 @ 40), (20 dBm)
   (5150 - 5250 @ 80), (23 dBm), NO-OUTDOOR, AUTO-BW, wmmrule=ETSI
   (5250 - 5350 @ 80), (20 dBm), NO-OUTDOOR, DFS, AUTO-BW, wmmrule=ETSI
   (5470 - 5725 @ 160), (27dBM), DFS, wmmrule=ETSI
   # short range devices (ETSI EN 300 440-1)
   (5725 - 5875 @ 80), (25 dBm)
   # 60 GHz band channels 1-4 (ETSI EN 302 567)
   (57000 - 66000 @ 2160), (40 dBm)

I think your router can only perform HT40 so I would recommend using any of these using TX pwr of 27dBm; I would start with 144+lower- but any of these should work:

HT40+lower:
104
112
120
128
136
144

HT40+upper:
100
108
116
124
132
140

Hello msoengineer,
thx for your reply.
Actually I use for 5GHz on DIR-825 channel 136+140, Dynamic (20MHz/40MHz) -2,4GHz is set to channel 13, 20MHz-, on the ConnectBox channel 112 (136 is not available), 20MHz/40MHz. I tried channel 112 on DIR-825 w/o any success.

Don't use Dynamic, you're better off forcing Ht40 or HT20...devices that are only Ht20 should still see the router if set to HT40, just won't be able to use the other 20mhz of bandwidth. The 802.11N standard for 5ghz has 40mhz already baked in... As far as radio mode...don't force N-only. That breaks things too...it's a buggy selection with poor results. Use N/ac mixed or mixed, don't use any other mode.

Also, your channel selections violate wifi standards and explains why you're not seeing the router. 136 can only be used if you use lower frequencies on HT40. Make sure to use the list I gave with proper "extension" channels. See my wifi wiki link which shows proper channels allowed for up to HT160. Those groupings are the only one's recognized by the wifi standard. Use something else and you get the results you have now.

Hello msoengineer,
thx again.
Seems that I found out the solution.
Set DIR-825 5GHz "Wireless Network Mode" from "N" to "NA-Mixed" (not "AC"!!!!) and everything works fine; all other settings like before. Crazy thing is that the ConnectBox 5GHz "Wireless Network Mode" is set to "N/AC-Mixed" and iPad 4 is able to connect. DIR-825 doesn't provide "AC".
Anyway I don't understand why but everything works fine. iPad 4 can use 5GHz-Wifi-Network with DIR-825 N/A-Mixed and ConnectBox N/AC-Mixed.

My Bad...I didn't look at the wikidevi.com info about the DIR-825b1 to see that it's only a NA device...so AC will never work, so using NA-Mixed is the best choice. I'm surprised AC is an option in the drop down menu...this is why it's important to check wikidevi.com to see what features your router has...

Dir-825 rev b1:
WI1 chip1: Atheros AR9220
WI1 802dot11 protocols: an
WI1 MIMO config: 2x2:2
WI1 antenna connector: U.FL, RP-SMA
WI2 chip1: Atheros AR9223
WI2 802dot11 protocols: bgn
WI2 MIMO config: 2x2:2
