I've an AUSU RT-AC66U router with dd-wrt R33607 on it.

If I want to try different/newer releases of dd-wrt, which *.bin shall I download for flashing? The directory ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2019/09-04-2019-r40900/asus-rt-ac66u/ only contains a *.trx file (for flashing from factory to dd-wrt) but flashing from inside of dd-wrt requires a *.bin file

My best guesses would be:
BS-Build:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2019/09-04-2019-r40900/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-40900_NEWD-2_K3.x_big.bin

KONG-Build:
http://ddwrt-kong.clonevince.fr/40270/dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_STD.bin

Can anybody check/approve/correct my guesses?

Thanks!

At least my N66u and N12D1 have no problem with being upgraded using .trx files.
Currently in a hurry, but in my opinion there should be a few reports regarding your device and the used file in the latest threads Smile

The RT-AC66U is not supported by Kong Firmware:

AFAIK, Asus devices are happy with .trx files - every firmware for Asus devices uses .trx files.

Last I remember, BS builds use the TRX file format for upgrading to allow seemless back and forth flashing from stock Asus to custom firmware.

Do you have an RT-AC66u A1 (600mhz mips processor) or the RT-AC66u B1 (1ghz dual-core bcm4708C0 ARM processor)?

A1 uses the beta build you linked, B1 uses the AC68U's firmware file.

^ The B1 would be the only reason you could use a Kong build, but I won't assume which one the OP has.

I've got the A1 version.
Yesterday I've sucessfully flahed latest BS-Build (*.trx) from within dd-wrt.

Befor and after the flash, I've restored the router to factorry default and configured afterwards the rourter from scratch. Some topics here point out strange issues with NVRAM for this device.

After doing so, I works much better as Client Bridge to extend wifi at my brother's home. I'm using 5GHz-AC band for CB-backbone connected to WRT1200AC (main router) and 2,4 GHz-N as AP
