I several times reported this problem but unfortunately nobody has responded.
After changing any parameter on your Openvpn client page, you pressed the "Apply Settings" button, but unfortunately the router does not connect to the vpn service and you need to press the "Apply Settings" button once more.

I had no such problem with my VPN (PIA).
But I am not doing an in-place upgrade but rather switching to partition 2 first then webflashing from there to Partition 1.

OpenVPN CLIENT works fine (nordvpn server)
5GHz wpa2 CCMP-128 (AES)working fine 20MHz Mixed
2.4GHz wpa2 CCMP-128 (AES)working fine 20MHz Mixed
NAS via USB Samba also working fine

If you restart or turn off/on your router, the openvpn client able to connect to the vpn service automatically. There is no VPN connection problem. However, if you change your vpn client configuration on your router, then you have to press to the Apply Settings button twice. That's the problem.

If I make a change to My VPN configuration. I hit SAVE and then APPLY. And that's it...I do not hit apply twice. I just tested it again.

My Linksys WRT1900ACSv2 refreshed after "ubootenv set boot_part 2" successfully. Still after restarting Samba doesn't start, you need to do "sleep 30; stopservice samba3; startservice samba3".
In the log there were errors (in r40009 they were not):
Code:
Jan 1 03:00:26 LinkSYS daemon.warn sm-notify[1434]: Failed to open sm: No such file or directory
Jan 1 03:00:26 LinkSYS daemon.err sm-notify[1434]: Failed to open directory sm.bak: No such file or directory
Jan 1 03:00:26 LinkSYS daemon.err rpc.statd[1433]: Failed to open directory sm: No such file or directory
Several versions ago I found that with the new versions of DD I had to change my file sharing to JFFS under FILE SHARING instead of MNT and to JFFS under SHARES instead of MNT. Once I did that my NAS Drive worked again. I do not have to restart services. However if you have more than one drive and are using both USB ports for the two drives then you are stuck having to do the services restart. That was the case for someone else here but as I use only one drive connected to the USB3 port I was able to make it work correctly after reboot by simply using JFFS instead of MNT. That worked for me on my router with my drive. YMMV.

In the past, pressing the APPLY button once was enough, it also saves the new vpn config.

WRT1900ACSv1. Upgraded from r31924. Everything seems to be working at least as good as before.
One strange thing I did notice is when I was doing some QoS testing. While I don't consider dslreports bufferbloat test as anything more than epeen contest, since I usually manually test bufferbloat myself under very heavy p2p loads, every queuing discipline other than PIE, completely breakes DL bufferbloat test on that site (UL test is fine). I go from A+ or A with PIE or disabled QoS, to C or less with anything other than PIE. This was not the case on r31924.
Any idea on what is happening here? Again, this only shows up on dslreports DL bufferbloat test, not when I manually saturate the line and ping a random server.

DSLReports give you the ping times for each server. Select a server in a different city.
