I own a Linksys E1200 v1. I use the WiFi to do typical things like gaming, streaming movies, and browsing the web, but of all the things, my wife and I can't access amazon.com on our Android phones (or the CapitalOne app) over WiFi.

I can't load amazon.com via:
- Moto G5 over home WiFi
- Moto G6 over home WiFi

But I can load amazon.com fine via:
- phone over LTE
- phone over the library's WiFi
- laptop over WiFi

When I say "won't load", what I mean is that the progress bar in the browser moves maybe 10% and then just hangs (see attached image) until I get "This site can't be reached" (ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED). It seems like maybe a DNS or proxy issue, but my laptop works just fine over WiFi and both phones work fine over LTE.

When connected to my home WiFi, my phone shows that "Proxy" is set to "None" and "IP settings" is set to "DHCP"

I don't believe I changed much (or anything?) from the default besides what I obviously had to.

Here's an image of Amazon hanging: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/files/screenshot_20190727_105533_smaller_323.png

Any ideas what is going wrong or how to debug this?

Which firmware build revision are you using?

My current firmware is "DD-WRT v3.0-r40188 mini (07/04/19)".

The previous firmware I had was from 2013 (though I did not record the exact firmware) and it also had this problem... but only with our current set of phones. Everything worked fine with our older Android devices.

I am not having this issue on my cheap Samsung J7, but I am on an alpha test build. I would try flashing 40672 or 40723 and report back after testing it.

Try different DNS addresses (like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.Cool. Are you using your ISP's DNS?

Also, do you have Lite/Data-saver mode enabled in the phone browser?

I could try that. But given that the 2013 firmware had the same problem as my current firmware, what are the odds that something in the firmware was fixed in the last month to address this issue?

I am using my ISP's DNS, but Amazon loads fine on laptop/desktop. But I can try when I get home.

Also, I have never seen the Lite/Data-saver mode turned on. Didn't even know it existed. (My wife uses Chrome, but I use Brave, which is based on Chromium, so I'm not sure Data-saver is even applicable to that browser.)

Is there a way of debugging/watching the traffic through the router to see what is happening to amazon.com requests and responses?

I am currently still on 40701 test build and I am not having an issue with my phone resolving Amazon... I may flash 40723 later on this evening and see if anything changes, but I kinda doubt it.

Yeah, obviously if this was happening in any build, the community would be in an uproar. So it's likely something specific to my situation... So the question is, how do I get to the bottom of it?

This is pretty weird.
I am just wondering if you can browse to any of these:
Code:

root@7802:~# nslookup amazon.com

Name:      amazon.com
Address 1: 176.32.103.205
Address 2: 205.251.242.103 s3-console-us-standard.console.aws.amazon.com
Address 3: 176.32.98.166

I just set up 1.1.1.1 on my router. No change.

Set up a network inspector/proxy (Fiddler) and Amazon loaded just fine. Turned off the proxy and it failed to load again. Hmmm...

Do I need to send you the latest alpha k2.6 nv64k mini? Or are you going to try the latest public build? This could be related to other k2.6 issues that were finally recently fixed... or something to your specific configuration, perhaps.

If the nslookup from the router works, can it be something on the phones acting up?

Try another webbrowser on the phone?

This is a very strange problem Shocked
