I just upgraded to r36410 (and then to r36330) and I keep getting these error messages pretty much everything that involved /bin/sh,

Code:
~ # ipkg
/bin/sh: 3: Invalid argument
~ #

Also on ssh login I keep getting this

Code:
-sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
-sh: 3: Invalid argument
~ #

ipkg doesn't work and I cannot do much with this. Anyone knows why this is happening?

I put a ticket in 3 weeks ago for a similar issue, not related to ipkg, but the weird garbage that was going on. Haven't had any response yet. Added this post and that model router to the ticket.

Thanks panic69. I don't think this is hardware related tho. Seems more like a higher level issue.

Tried to flash ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/07-28-2018-r36410/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-36410_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N16.trx but it totally messed up nvram, recognized the device as WRTxxxx, wrong mem wrong nvram size and all the settings were gone. Switched back to ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/07-28-2018-r36410/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-36410_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_RT-N16.trx and still same "Invalid argument" errors even after factory reset settings. Think I'll go back to r30631 from 2016 which was working fine, for now.

Didn't go all the way back to 2016 and just tried this,

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/02-01-2017-r31221/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-31221_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega.bin

which worked fine. No tty or invalid argument errors. Definitely broken in one of those 2017 or 2018 builds.

Thanks BS and kp69. Will try as soon as the next build drops into ftp. Also have to dig out RT-N16 from garage.
