The r9000 is a dual switch router and BS once said that VLAN tagging on the WAN port does not work unless you use the SFP port as a WAN port.
But I don't know I don't have a R9000.
The best you can do is ask DWCruiser - that seems to be the only one who has managed VLAN's on the router.
