I was able to successfully recover. IP yourself to 192.168.0.10 / 255.255.255.0 / 192.168.0.1. Plug to port 1
With power out, hold the reset button on the bottom. Open a browser and goto 192.168.0.1, and up load stock DLink FW.

Bricked my R7000 too. Im an absolute noob when it comes to recovery things but got mine working again after some searching and trying.

This worked for me:

set static ip adress 192.168.1.2
set subnet 255.255.255.0
set standard gatewat 192.168.1.1

download tftp64
extract and put vmlinuz file in same folder
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=36485
shut down firewall
run tftp64 and go to logviewer

now start router and within 10 seconds it will load the file to memory.

now wait and now you can get into openwrt probably trough 192.168.1.1 (in browser) use username root and pw admin and now I could load an old dd-wrt version.

I hope this will help you too.

Cant believe I got this working again by myself Shocked Very Happy

I got this process to work, however, i cannot get to the browser. Is this for R7000 only, or is the vmlinuz generic?

I guess this is generic, but cant find the forum anymore. Maybe you can search for a specific R7000 vmlinux. Good luck

I was looking for one for R8000, as it flashes, but then stop responding. As a test i tried renaming the stock netgear chk to vmlinuz, and tftp64 that, and it seems to stay up and responding, however, i still cannnot get to browser.

This will cause a transmit failure. No DHCP exists. And for which process, tftp64 or tftp2?

I thought you had already flashed stock firmware back to it. Never mind then.

When I hold the reset button and power on, the power button doesn't blink as expected. I think mine is in a worse state.

Ialso tried TFTP from the command line with no luck.

glad I didn't waste my time before reading through the disaster, so if it's known to brick routers why hasn't the build been removed from the downloads?

It seems that it only bricks Broadcom-ARM, not all devices. I have no control over removing downloads.

So i will attempt a serial recover, since no other method is confirmed working.

I did get this to work for DLink DIR-860lA1 though...

In the meantime i happen to wander across a Netgear AX1200... no build for that i take it?

It is a tricky timing issue. You literally have to push the file via tftp on the first ttl=100. You are doing this over wired ethernet, I presume? https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Tftp_flash

There is also the other option of nmrpflash https://community.netgear.com/t5/General-WiFi-Routers-Non/nmrpflash-How-To/td-p/1735429

I couldn't remember which thread that was discussed in, but found that link.
