Does anyone know why this phenomenon exists?

It appears that fq_codel uses a lot less cpu than sfq. Anyone know what about the algorithm makes it more cpu friendly?

Is it because it drops packets early that it forces sending devices to slow down thus lowering cpu utilization or is there another mechanism at play?

I initially switched to HTB+fq_codel to see if I could improve latency but after switching back and forth between sfq and fq_codel I've noticed there's a noticable cpu spike switching back to sfq where sometimes with bursty traffice cpu can spike to 35% where as with fq_codel it seems like on average even with bursty traffic it's hard to break 20%
