Hi all
I am attempting to install dd-wrt on my wrt1900ac v2. My goal is to install surfshark vpn on the router.
I have spent quite a few hours reviewing posts, wikis, videos and other instructions. Back in the day I did this (easily) with the WRT54G (probably 15 years ago) but I have not messed with routers since.
My current situation is:
1. Windows 10, using firefox (and chrome when I’m frustrated).
2. Right now Linksys is in part 1, and openwrt is in part 2.
3. I cannot ssh or telnet (putty) into the router with linksys running.
4. I cannot load the factory-to-ddwrt.bin using the linksys gui. It goes into a perpetual restart that I eventually terminate with a reboot. Once I reboot I return to linksys in part 1.
5. I can load openwrt using the linksys gui. With openwrt running, I can ssh into the router.
a. using ssh I can identify partitions, switch them and reboot.
b. I cannot load dd-wrt using the openwrt gui.
So - can I can use ssh while running openwrt to load dd-wrt on top of openwrt (in partition 2)? If so, what would the command syntax be?
Or perhaps I'm missing an easy step to get the linksys gui to work with factory-to-ddwrt.bin?
