Hello there,
my R9000 is covering good its floor but downstairs signal is too weak (2 walls, 2 doors and a stair in between). I have already tied some LAN cables connecting floors for wired network outlets, so I was thinking to place an AP using a LAN cable together with a POE injector to get both network and power from upper floor (where DD-WRT router is placed). I'd like to have a "seamless" wifi connection as if I was connected directly to the main router: same SSID, same password, same behaviour, like on a mesh (please correct me in case of mistake).
I was thinking at UniFi APs freesbies (Lite, LR, Pro): maybe they are good for the job?
I would accept any suggestion, even about configuration....
Many thanks
GM

Is it safe to assume you're using Italy as your regulatory domain on your wifi settings?

If so, Italy only allows weak dBm:
Code:
country IT: DFS-ETSI
   (2402 - 2482 @ 40), (20)
   (5170 - 5250 @ 80), (20), AUTO-BW, wmmrule=ETSI
   (5250 - 5330 @ 80), (20), DFS, AUTO-BW, wmmrule=ETSI
   (5490 - 5710 @ 160), (27), DFS, wmmrule=ETSI
   # 60 GHz band channels 1-4, ref: Etsi En 302 567
   (57000 - 66000 @ 2160), (40)

Cough Cough...
Code:
country USA: DFS-FCC
   (2402 - 2472 @ 40), (30)
   # 5.15 ~ 5.25 GHz: 30 dBm for master mode, 23 dBm for clients
   (5170 - 5250 @ 80), (23), AUTO-BW
   (5250 - 5330 @ 80), (23), DFS, AUTO-BW
   (5490 - 5730 @ 160), (23), DFS
   (5735 - 5835 @ 80), (30)
   # 60g band
   # reference: section IV-D https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-16-89A1.pdf
   # channels 1-6 EIRP=40dBm(43dBm peak)
   (57240 - 71000 @ 2160), (40)

every 3dBm is 50% power +/-.

Both radio domains have to be the same, or the router won't broadcast.

choose your 5ghz channel wisely. see my signature for some useful links on this topic.
