I have a guest wireless network setup on my Asus RT-AC68U running DD-WRT v3.0-r37305 std (10/10/1Cool. Any time the router is rebooted, the guest wireless network is not up (can't find the SSID). If I do an ifconfig, I can see the wl0.1 interface is up. I have go to the wireless settings page and click on apply settings to have the guest ssid show up. How can I get it to auto-start on reboot?

Thank You

From many a build thread:

Quote:
5. VAPs not working at boot; workaround startup command:
sleep 10;stopservice nas;stopservice wlconf;startservice wlconf;startservice nas
This appears to be fixed for some routers (different kernels, modes, and radios) since build 39508.

Also, another optional workaround:

redhawk0 wrote:
sleep 20; stopservice nas; wlconf eth1 down; wlconf eth2 down; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice nas

These are usually placed in your startup script under Administration->Commands->Save Startup.

You may wish to upgrade to the latest public beta build:

Tried to upgrade fw and seems to have bricked my router. Router seems to reboot continually judging from the lights.

Tried to restore original Asus fw, no luck, goes back to the same reboot cycle.

Any advice?

Were you putting it into recovery mode? There's the built-in recovery mode option and restoration utility option AFAIK. You shouldn't need to do serial recovery. I am guessing ASUS devices are oddly affected: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1169521#1169521 = So, probably 40065 or 40167 are your better options, if you upgrade.

Try putting the router in rescue mode to install firmware. also called recovery mode: https://www.snbforums.com/search/942130/?q=rescue+mode+asus&o=date

Those links are about converting the TM-1900, but useful information for recovery, also the wiki:

It may take a few tries to get the original FW back on and converting back to DD-WRT. Honestly, unless there is specific reasons to use DD-WRT, I would probably opt for RMerlin or FreshTomato.
