ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2019/06-11-2019-r40009/broadcom_K3X/

Newest builds are at ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2019/

But make sure you know how to recover from a bad/failed flash, should you need to.

Direct link for build 40009, the current beta build as of this post:

For starters. And so far, the K3X 40009 build has been pretty good for my test E4200 v1. My configuration and tweaks are a work in progress, but that is the basic starting points of information I have used.

My current E4200 shows up with "Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) mega".
In reading https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php?title=Linksys_E4200 - Are these the right steps to upgrade?

1. flash nv60k mini in the "/broadcom_K26/" folder
2. flash K3X-e4200 mega in the "/broadcom_K3X/" folder

Thanks for any help in advance

You can flash nv60k k26 mini or mega, then to k3x mega. Just be advised that there are a lot of changes, especially in the past couple of years. There may or may not be any caveats in flashing to current K3.x (K4.x) from K26.

Thanks for the quick reply. The same article above mentioned that K3X mega was the recommended build, which is why I thought I should use it after K26, but I can certainly just stick with K26 if everything seems to work and there is high risk to use the K3X.

I only use my E4200 as a switch/wifi AP. I wanted to upgrade to latest since for some reason my 5Ghz wifi SSID keeps stop broadcasting. (have to save/reapply settings to fix it)

Your use case shouldn't require K3.x/K4.x or a mega build; Just keep in mind if the assign WAN port to switch functionality is required, then you will require a specific build and may not be able to upgrade to a newer build.

Thanks. I actually do make use of the "assign wan port to switch functionality". Which specific version do I need? I am now on "DD-WRT v3.0-r48296 mega (02/05/22)"

I did see a "WAN Port Assignment" option under setup > networking. I tried assigning it to the default br0 bridge (it was set to vlan2) but that did not seem to work.

It may or may not be required to have that feature for it to work, all you should have to do is disable WAN and it should bridge that interface. The last build with it was:

Is true, might only need Setup -> Basic Setup -> Connection Type Disabled with build r48296.

Thanks. I did confirm that my WAN is set to disabled (attached) however when I plug an ethernet cable into the wan port, I cannot ping the dd-wrt device itself, while everything works if I plug it into one of the 4 switched ports.

Isn't the WAN port located on the switch?

Can you see it with the command?

swconfig dev switch0 show.

If it is, move the port from VLAN2 to VLAN1.

Correct- The wan port is on the switch. Its a single port that is next to a group of 4 ports. Before when I enabled the "assign wan port to switch" option, I can then use all 5 ports interchangeably. Now only the 4 ports work.

I tried running swconfig but it says command not found. In researching other forum posts- someone did note that this command was not available for Broadcom devices?

swconfig was added to Broadcom 6 month ago. Maybe it's only AC routers.

If not swconfig, then it's nvram variables.

nvram show | grep vlan.*ports

It may be something related to using a K26 (or K24) build, and not a K3.x/K4.x build.
