I’m trying to recover a dir-867 using serial. It’s basically the same hardware as the 882/878 except it’s 3x3.
The rocovery page doesn’t work, it keeps telling me upgrade failed.
So I load the oem firmware using a tftp server. I type tftpboot in the command line, it copies the firmware but the just sits at MT7621 #

I’ve tried typing go, but that doesn’t work. I’ve tried power cycling it but that doesn’t work.
What do I do after the firmware transfers on to the router?

It seems that the recovery page works to load dd-wrt for the 882. It will boot up and be recognized as a dir-882. Then I used the webflash.bin for the 878 and it is recognized as a dir-878.
I just can’t flash the dir-876 firmware on it.

I had a similar problem with a different router. And I think the problem came from the active NoScript in FireFox.
Maybe this helps?!
Good luck ervau

In case anyone finds himself in the same situation, unable to flash stock firmware, I solved the issue using the beta firmware here ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/SECURITY_ADVISEMENTS/DIR-867/REVA/

I’m guessing they are unencrypted. I was then able to upgrade to the latest stock.
Now I can go between dd-wrt and d-link firmware as I please.
