|
Hello,
This is my first post on the forum, I hope I haven't missed any important information below.
I have an old e3000 which I would like to put back into service. It's currently flashed with v24-sp2 (04/13/11) std-usb-nas, and I'm a little confused about the path to follow in order to update, or which firmware version should I use with it. I don't need anything special, since I don't plan to use it as a NAS or server. Having OpenVPN on the router would be nice, but I'm afraid it's going to consume CPU power which is going to limit the NAT throughput, hence I would likely run the VPN server on another box.
I've also noticed that with the current firmware I can only configure up to VLAN 15, but my ISP uses VLAN 20, is there any firmware that would allow me to configure VLAN 20?
I've read some Broadcom based hardware is limited to VLAN 15, but I haven't been able to find if e3000 is one of those.
Thanks, Roger. |

Newer builds can use VLANs up to 4096, see: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Switched_Ports
versions are denoted by the 5 figure build number
I think the upgrade path is in the wiki but it is something like:
Coming from old builds you usually first update to 21676 k2.6 then update to K3.x 21676 then update to k3.x recent build (see the build threads)
K2.6 builds have been broken for a long time most recent might work but you are better off with a K3.x build
I use an E2000 als backup VPN server, but indeed it is slow not more than 6 Mb/s _________________ Routers:Netgear R7000, R6400v1, R6400v2, EA6900 (XvortexCFE), E2000, E1200v1, WRT54GS v1.
