I'm currently using Build: 05-30-2019-r39884 after a long time using Openwrt on my WRT1900acs v.1 router.
I'm using the fq-codel discipline of QoS which isn't quite as good for bufferbloat as OpenWrt's implementation for me. Still acceptable.
My main reason for switching to dd-wrt was more ease of use and ability to get openvpn working with PBR. The last time I tried dd-wrt I couldn't even get the 5Ghz radio to work but everything seems great this time around. Kudos to the developers.
I was wondering what people's latest thoughts were about SFE? I can get good speed without it but it does seem to help a little bit and with less bufferbloat. Doing searches, I find most people suggest turning it off but those posts were often well over a year old. Is it still suggested to turn it off and, if so, why?
I have 400/20 speed but I find I can get over that download speed even with QoS turned on and SFE off.
SFE does seem to help some with bufferbloat. I guess I was just curious why people think it should be turned off. Is there some problem with it or is it just a matter of it taxing the hardware more?

It does not work together with QOS. It will bypass some code in the Firewall to speed up WAN-LAN traffic.
If you enabled QOS, it's probably disabled even if it's enabled.
