Greetings all! Very noob, but have read the wiki and the forums till my eyes have crossed. I am 70 years old and the old brain is not as sharp as it was. I purchased the WRT32X as I wanted to run IPVanish on it instead of each device. Of course it does not work. I would like to flash the DD-WRT firmware, but am not finding it. So, question: Is the WRT32X just a WRT3200ACM in a new set of clothes, or is it actually an improvement.

Thanks, clarkjm11 or "Doc"

It does have some differences in the UI, and from what I have read geared more toward gaming, as far as the firmware goes here is the link for the latest :
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/01-31-2018-r34777/linksys-wrt32x/

But if you are really wanting to run IPVanish and you can return the 3200x, you might want to consider returning it while you still can!
Just my 2cents!!!
There are other choices out there for sure!

Thanks, was using it more for streaming as I am getting rid of DirecTV. Purchased from Amazon last August and it is working well, just not quite the way I want.

The WRT32X is currently unable to flash DD-WRT.

It is possible to get IPVanish OpenVPN Client running on the stock Venom Firmware.

Hi,
At the moment both WRT32X and WRT3200ACM can be flashed to DD-WRT?
But what difference between them in DD-WRT firmware?

DD-WRT is same for both of them only different build, but all functionality same?

I cannot decide which one is better to buy, I stopped on WRT32X I like design more Smile

WRT32X tends to be better VFM, not exactly sure why. There are subtle hardware differences between the two, which is why there are two separate DD-WRT builds. They are NOT interchangeable, but the functionality is identical.

WRT32X has better quality LEDs!

in my personal opinion the models are result of pure marketing crap: market segmentation. The devices are 99% the same. Differences in hardware seem to be on the flash memory, and in terms of architecture just more flash memory layout.
I have the wrt32x. I have also managed to install the 3200ACM firmware. Except the "smart" features and a different look, they are the same. Basically ACM firmware is a has one subset of features and 32x has another subset of features. In their wisdom belking/linksys decided that acm is for normal users that don't need performance features and 32x is for gamers, which need more performance feature. But nooo power users. Personal opinion AVOID Linksys crap. Now, in terms of dd-wrt or open-wrt neither are perfect stable firmwares. VPN implementation is somehow way better on open-wrt, but still buggy and crapy. There are FAR BETTER options than liksys crap (asus, ubiquity, etc).
