Kong's DD-WRT test build DD-WRT v3.0-r39575M kongac (04/20/19) has been released:

http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-Arm/TEST/

Changes see: https://svn.dd-wrt.com//
Changeset 39556 patch by quarkysg to bypass PBR packets.

Problems and workarounds:
When VAP is not working at boot; workaround startup command:
1) sleep 10; stopservice nas; stopservice wlconf; startservice wlconf; startservice nas;
2) sleep 4; stopservice cron; stopservice wlconf; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice cron;
3) sleep 20; stopservice nas; wlconf eth1 down; wlconf eth2 down; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice nas
4) Aternative way to get VAP working: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=317181

This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29440_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r39575M kongac (04/20/19)
Previous: DD-WRT v3.0-r39345M kongac (04/03/19)
Kernel: Linux 4.4.178 #653 SMP Sat Apr 20 16:54:22 CEST 2019 armv7l
Status: One working as a gateway with USB, dnsmasq, OpenVPN Server, and extensive iptables rules, and the other is an AP-only AP.
Reset: Nope, flashed via ddup --flash-latest
Errors: None I've noticed this far, besides the absence of the "DNSCrypt Resolver" option under services. (Intended?)

Router: Asus RT-AC3200
Firmware Version DD-WRT v3.0-r39575M kongac 04/20/19
Linux 4.4.178 #653 SMP Sat Apr 20 16:54:22 CEST 2019 armv7l
Previous Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r37985M kongac 12/16/18

Mode/Status: Gateway / AP / IPsec
Upgrade Method: "ddup --flash-latest". No 'erase nvram'
Reset: Soft Reboot after ddup and then Power Cycle
Uptime: 2 hours
CPU Temp pre-upgrade: CPU 55.0 °C (using laptop cooler at minimum fan speed)
CPU Temp post-upgrade: CPU 55.0 °C (using laptop cooler at minimum fan speed)

Errors/Issues: IPSec again fails to work properly after update. As opposed to a few months ago when I could get it to work by manually disable/enable the IPSec service, I can't get it to work at all. Reverting to r39785m restores IPSec to working as expected.

I've seen a similar user having problems with IPSec in post r37985M releases here - https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1162872#1162872

Here's where it looks like it is failing in my log file:

Upgraded: from DD-WRT v3.0-r39345M kongac (04/03/19) via WEBUI
Reset: No, not this time

Errors: None I've noticed this far.

Encrypt DNS setting is no longer available, any reason why?

Had to fall back to DD-WRT v3.0-r39345M kongac 04/03/19 for Encrpyt DNS option.

Thanks for the good works, but would appreciate to continue to support Encrypt DNS option.

Router: R6400 v2
Firmware: From r38580M kongac (02/05/19) to the one this thread is about
Status: Mostly working
Reset: No
Errors: SNMP still doesn't work properly. It kind of works, but doesn't show the proper values, and/or doesn't allow normal polling rates. Looks like those issues were introduced around March 11th. The other basic functions have been solid for the last few hours, but I'm reverting firmwares for SNMP. I like my graphs.

You have to do "nvram erase" after upgrading, if you do it before you are still stuck with the default values of the old build.

In the old days it was also advised to do a reset before upgrading, one of the reason is/was that your nvram could be filled and you had no room for upgrading and I can remember bricking a router which had JFFS2 enabled and I did not reset before upgrading
(which should have disabled JFFS2)

A big +1 on this!!!

I'm not sure if it's funny or aggravating how there are so many that struggle to fallow the logic in how this works.

How can one expect the potentially new/different defaults to be loaded....when they arent even on your router yet? (being in the new furmware not flashed yet)

Also the logic in resetting before flash is also to eliminate you & your potentially incompatible/custom settings.

You have to do "nvram erase" after upgrading, if you do it before you are still stuck with the default values of the old build.

You guys are taking this too seriously. Thanks for the tips. I’m not a Linux person but I’ve been a long time DD-WRT user. I appreciate all the hard work by BS and Kong!

For future reference I’ll “nvram erase “ before flash and after flash.

Keep up the good work guys.
