Link to my private openwrt builds for EA8500/R7500v2/R7800.

The build is tailored to my needs thus only includes features I consider worth including directly, if I think something is useful it will be available as an installable package.

Link:

http://www.desipro.de/openwrt/

Sources dir will contain info regarding modifications, theme etc.. If you are not familiar with openwrt you should probably stay away from it as I cannot give user support for these builds. If you found a bug which I can reproduce I'll try to fix it.

So builds will be uploaded to that directory and not www.desipro.de/kongpro/ anymore? Since that still shows a build for April 4th.

All builds in directory Kong listed in OP are newer builds than in old kongpro directory (files dated 04/04/19).....
...actually no builds are left in the old kongpro at this time.

Despite the lack of 256QAM, I flashed both my R7800s to Kong Pro.

Had to disable HTTPS when accessing WebUI since it refused to load anything other than 'Overview', but other than that, it works flawlessly.

Main router has 5-10 WiFi clients connected during the day and 3 wired clients. The AP on the other hand has only 1 wired client and around 15 WiFi clients connected all the time. Most users have been streaming Netflix since it's the weekend, and no complaints from anyone so far.

Coming up around 10 hours of uptime for both devices.

So glad to finally be away from NGs stock firmware.

EA8500 vs R7800 as Access Point with KongPro. I used same channel and locations for both devices. While one was tested the other was removed

Are you going to use the tftp push or load the fw using the factory UI?
I saw a couple of comments that stated they used the UI.

Thanks

I installed Kong Pro on my EA8500 through the WebUI of factory firmware. Worked perfectly fine.

I really wish I had a 2nd unit so I could mess with this without extended downtime. Sad

Hi, kong.

I have questions.

Kong is your nickname.
kongat is DD-WRT customized build name.
KONG PRO is OpenWRT customized build name.

Is it right?

Yep, there is also kongal (for alpine) kongac (for broadcom ac) and KONG TRUNK (not uploaded yet, openwrt trunk).

KONG PRO is 18.06 + a few things picked from trunk e.g. ath10k driver/fw + my own fixes like hw spinlock fix + mib counter fix... + "darkpro" theme which is based on darkmatter, but compatible with latest openwrt, since current openwrt themes are a joke.
