Build: DD-WRT micro v3.0 37305 10/10/2018
Kernel: 2.4.37
Router:Linksys WRT54G v6.0
Hardware: 2 MB FLASH, 8 MB RAM, 32 KB NVRAM

The reason I switched to DD-WRT was to auto-reboot without getting up out of the chair. I schedule reboot for 3 AM every morning, but never resets. I have CRON tab enabled, and tried adding the startup script workaround too.

Quote:
echo "#!/bin/sh" > /tmp/restart_router
echo "startservice run_rc_shutdown; /sbin/reboot" >> /tmp/restart_router
chmod a+x /tmp/restart_router
echo "0 3 * * * root /tmp/restart_router" > /tmp/cron.d/restartrouter

If I put 60 seconds in the Keep Alive tab, it works, but if I put 3600 (1 hour) it does not. I also tried 30-30-30 reset, and disabling other functions, and adding in crontab via telnet. I enabled NTP time as well.

Has someone with this model router been able to make this work, or is there no hope for K2.4/2.6?(would have to manually by telnet) I already know how old this router is.

When was the last best beta build that had reboot working? I remember as far as 2016 builds had working ones, but with high CPU or greater RX error rate.

Thank you for your diligence and helpfulness.

I don't think cron is included in that build, even though the GUI shows it. No idea on what build might have it.

Have you verified cron is running (ssh/telnet into device and run 'ps')?

Does that firmware version have an Administration > Keep Alive > Schedule Reboot option?

Cron is not running in services because nothing changes when I enable or disable it. If I enter /tmp/crontab it says permission is denied. Maybe I need root access, and the equivalent to nano or vi in CL.

Confused

You need to go older builds. Newer Busybox no longer include cron for these routers.
