ok i will tell it again once, TORRENTS HANG UP THIS DAMN ROUTER,DOESNT MATTER WHICH CLIENT IS USING A TORRENT CLIENT PROGRAM, NEITHER WHICH PROGRAMM IS BEING USED, IT JUST HANGS THE ROUTER UP AFTER A FEW MINUTES. CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM IT IN ORDER TO HELP MR KONG FIX THIS ISSUE??? I AM TALKING ABOUT IT 2 MONTHS NOW. NO WAY TO EXTRACT ANY LOG FROM THE ROUTER BECAUSE IT BECOMES A STUPID USELESS BOX WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING AND IT NEEDS MANUA POWERCYCLE!!!
Site Survey is still broken on the R7800 5GHz band. Used r38840M last night to stream Kodi for about 2 hours and no issues with streaming. The only issue I see so far is the uptime is now at 33 minutes which coincides with the time I had the Wireless Scheduler set to turn the wireless back on. So it would appear the Wireless Scheduler turning the 5G back on caused the r7800 to reboot which is definitely a first for me...
EDIT/Update: I was able to reproduce the wireless scheduler malfunction. As noted above at 0600 was the first reboot. I then set the 5ghz radio to shut off at 0700. At 0900 both radios were scheduled to come back on and router rebooted again. Build r38835M didn’t have this problem so this one is done...

I do not have the EA-8500 but I have had routers misbehave in the same way for me and sometimes it was as simple as putting a heat-sink on the CPU. And yes I had to take the plastic housing apart to put a sticky thermal pad and heat-sink on the chip.
As far as your logs go you probably already have them enabled -
-Security->Firewall->Log Mgmt. (configure to your need)
-Services->Services->System Log (Syslogd-on, Klogd-on)
adding remote server here can help to catch it at the last second before it locks. That way you will have logs right up until it crashes and you might spot a pattern.
The default TCP congestion for that router was westwood, if that helps.
You probably already know this but setting up a firewall script that disables incoming packets from people bombing or DDOS your router.
Example.
# Stop smurf attacks
iptables -A INPUT -p icmp -m icmp --icmp-type address-mask-request -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -p icmp -m icmp --icmp-type timestamp-request -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -p icmp -m icmp -j DROP
# Drop excessive RST packets to avoid smurf attacks
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --tcp-flags RST RST -m limit --limit 2/second --limit-burst 2 -j ACCEPT
I hope it helps. My hunch is your CPU is overheating.

Just out of curiousity mrjcd, why would you use unbound over say dnsmasq?
I read over the man page and I couldn't find anything in it that was different or more useful than dnsmasq.
Also, what speed to you get out of the NAS?
I can't seen to get anything over 45MB/s and that is straight to a usb device that normally gets 130MB/s write speed when plugged directly into the computer.

Everything has been done as you said, already since 2 months i am running Kiwi syslog server on a computer in my network, but beleive me, it hasnt ever catch anyting, to be honest i have many other ddwrt operating routers with same settings but none of them has the same issue, CPU temp seems normal on idle

The router has been factory reseted many times with the issues remaining, changing TCP congestion to Vegas seems that helped, i was able to download Linux Mint from torrent without the hang up issue, i will press it a bit more and will see if it has been fixed
