No the command is not reversed, but both do different things, only one thing changed, that causes issues if you think, now if you reboot nvram cache from ram is flushed and thir vars are written to nvram flashspace. This will write parts of nvram to flash again.

Thus erasen nvram won't wipe everything unless you press the power button right afterwards. nvram erase clears nvram space, but does not zero out the flash from first to last block.

so which do you recommend? erase nvram + power cycle the rt?

I second that question...as most of us take your recommendations as golden rules

<Kong> Thank You for chiming in to help clear this up for us.....And for all that you do here

nvram erase

clears config, you won't need erase nvram unless nvram paartition is corrupt.

Just saying Thank You and I trust your file and what u say. "I" believe you have made a huge contribution to the forum and DD-WRT development in general.
BTW I cannot see any file if you posted it. Pretty sure I am logged in. Pretty sure the forum/website is fubar right now.
mrjcd, about your recent dns issue, if you use static dns, I found removing the isp entries in the resolver works out well for me, resolves faster and much stable, especially with ones that support dnssec. Mine is cloudflare with 2 entries 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1 hence 2 in the startup script below:

sleep 10 && head -n 2 /tmp/resolv.dnsmasq > /tmp/resolv.dnsmasq.tmp && mv /tmp/resolv.dnsmasq.tmp /tmp/resolv.dnsmasq

You can do cat /tmp/resolv.dnsmasq to see if your isp entries are in there before and after startup script/reboot

p.s. believe it or not i used to have the exact same issue as well until i used that startup command. before that i also tried increasing the cache size to 1000 but didn't work so no longer needed
Why would you needa script for this. Wouldnt just adding no-resolv and the DNS servers under Service accomplish the same thing?

I see a lot of people that still try to reset by running command:

erase nvram

this is not working anymore due to several changes in nvram handling.

Builds after 04/18 need:

nvram erase

Thank You for clearing this up...again....while I'm sure it has been clear as glass to you all along

If one really reads what you have written, the different commands/processes are now clear...er To me and hopefully the rest

Happy new year to you...and to all that contribute here

u know the point of multiple dns servers is for redundancy, right? do a trace route to 1.1.1.1, and 1.0.0.1, probably the same or extremely close, right? therefor, u need another dns provider, incase ur route breaks, how about openDNS? or google? or whatever u prefer.

Oh right totally forgot about that. So I can just add extra providers as below? I’m trying to avoid resolved isp dns it’s terrible here

never mind found that to use all with first response add all-servers option

no-resolv
no-poll
all-servers
server=1.1.1.1
server=1.0.0.1
server=8.8.8.8
server=8.8.4.4

I was on this build for 4-5 days and suddenly noticed very sluggish wi-fi on my device before I was getting ready for bed. I didn't think much of it and went to bed, but it was the same deal in the morning--very sluggish and/or impossible to load anything, including the R7500's web GUI. I toggled wi-fi on device, no difference. I rebooted the R7500 and while waiting I connected to my R7000 web GUI and everything was snappy. After coming back up, the R7500 was also snappy and internet browsing experience is back to normal.

I'm going back to R37945M for the moment, as I think that one was quite stable.

But do note that if you decide you actually want to query in order so that you actually favor Cloudflare, in addition to removing all-servers, you need to reverse the order of the server= lines, because DNSMasq actually queries the last one first, then the previous one, etc... turtles all the way back.
