I can not seem to find a procedure to install DD-WRT to the Asus RT-AC3200 router. Anyone got a link or procedure to do this one. I have done many other routers before but not on this one.

Flash this through the router upgrade tab ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/12-20-2018-r38060/asus-rt-ac3200/

If you have a recent ASUS or rmerlin firmware on it, you’ll need to use the firmware restoration tool or the cfe mini web server after putting the router into recovery mode.

I just installed on a ac3200 and was slick and fast.

Do the 30-30-30 like they said....

1 - download the correct firmware from dd-wrt

2 - Set your PC ip to whatever subnet you plan to use, i.e. if it is 192.168.1.1 then set your pc that will do the setup on the router to 192.168.1.8

3 - I plugged my PC directly into the router I was setting up, so it did not have Internet connectivity, but... did not want that for now. (use one of the 4 ports not the internet port heh)
4 - Hold the reset button down for 30 seconds (have a watch or count ssllloowwlly..heh) WITH THE ROUTER POWER plugged in...keep holding it after the 30 seconds but unplug the power from the router.. and KEEP holding it for another 30-35 seconds (I gave it 5 seconds more each time.)….while STILL holding the reset switch down...plug it BACK in and hold it for another 30-35 seconds...

The key is, you will hold the reset switch down for a total of at least 1 minute and 30 seconds...while plugging/unplugging the power.. so keep your hands free.. heh

5 - Now, since your PC ip is 192.168.1.8 and the router should come up at 192.168.1.1....you will see the recovery screen and be able to upload the dd-wrt firmware.

If you do not do it this way, the asus router will block your upgrade.. fyi.

btw... that is the extent of my knowledge.. lol.. I just installed it like 10 minutes ago.. and have zero idea how to set it up Razz.. but it works! lol

Well I just done the WPS and power thing that worked to clear the NVRAM but I trouble pinging the router I had the cable on port 1 finally figured out I had to put it on the port 4 so O could do a Power on reset to get into recovery mode so I could upload DD-WRT. That was successful. I setup DD-WRT but there was a couple thing that seemed to being not working right. I could on see 1 of the 2 5ghz radios and I could access my other routers I had setup as a client bridge so I just reinstalled the stock firmware from ASUS.

Install Kongs firmware and be done with it. You may have to use the erase nvram or nvram erase to bring back the missing radio.

VAP is working as well.

Well I installed the Kong version dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_R8000.bin it upload good but the only I couldn't get to work was the WLAN port .. if I plugged in the cable for the cablemodem it would make all the lan and wlan ports flash fast and it would not get a ip address. Clearing the nvram did not make a difference .

How exactly did you "clear the nvram"?

Do not run the nvram erase command in the command box through the webif/gui

Use telnet or SSHd

Dunb question....did you unplug your modem for a few seconds then re power it up?

I used the power off and hold down the WPS button turned on until it flashed fast.

I can try the telnet thing.

Are you running Kong on the Asus RT-AC3200? I never figured out the WLAN problem.
