Hey All,

I've been reading up on the DNS Masq threads on here, and I can't seem to achieve my goal.
Here is my network setup:

Modem supplies internet to Netgear R7800 w/ stock firmware. Ethernet cable runs from LAN port of R7800 to my WDR3600 w/ DD-WRT (r37908 firmware). The R7800 router is acting as the DHCP server for my network, so the WDR3600 has DHCP disabled, and is set up to DHCP forward from the other router. Basically, I'm using the WDR3600 as a switch to have more LAN ports, but also to extend my wireless network for more coverage on the other side of the house.

What I'm trying to do is assign host-names based on a mac address so that when viewed from the DD-WRT gui, it will display whats connected to it. Currently, it displays '*' as the hostname and the mac address only.

Does DNSMasq work if DHCP is disabled?

Here is what I put into my DNSMasq settings under Services> Additional DNSMasq Options (which doesnt seem to change anything here) (obviously the X's are the real Mac Address):
Code:
dhcp-host=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX,DesktopPC

You have to use the R7800 to set host names, the WDR3600 is indeed basically a switch
