I'm getting weird results via wifi VS cabled bufferbload Confused

Via wifi (via iPad Pro 11) every speed tests are perfect, always bufferbload A+: https://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/42238171

Via Ethernet with my iMac I get terrible bufferbload every time: https://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/42238254

If anyone know what's going on... here's my QoS setting, nothing special http://i.imgur.com/RLFhtef.png

Router Model: Linksys EA8500

Status: Operational
Reset: No
Errors: None so far

Had 5 GHz issues with earlier K4.9 builds, but 23rd Nov and todays build are fantastic.

Hmmm this helped thanks! But still not the same as wifi... its very curious Confused I think there's a bug via ethernet connection, maybe the way my R7800 (main router) see the tcp packets it's wrong.
Because if I disable the ethernet connection on my iMac, the speed and bufferbload it's the same as my other devices with wifi!

Cabled iMac http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/42240798 (F in quality?)

wifi iMac: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/42241112

Wifi via iPad same as iMac http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/42240908 (A+ everything)

This thing happened almost every time since a lot of time.

My home network is: R7800 as wan and primary router, plus I have a R7000 as a range extender, but is cabled to the R7800, who is connected via ethernet to the Mac and it's also extend the wifi.
If I run the speedtest via wifi connected to R7000 or r7800 all is fine, if I run the speedtest from the eth it runs weird as above!

EDIT: Oh, maybe I've found the problem: Privoxy! Evil or Very Mad

If I disable the proxy on ethernet port it runs perfect as the wifi, I don't know why but my devices are also connected via privoxy, if I disable it on wifi devices the speed and bufferbloat are a bit better but not that worste as via ethernet on the iMac.

Ethernet without Privoxy proxy, all normal: https://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/42242314

Maybe something is wrong with this build and privoxy? Confused

<Kong> added a change to privoxy. May be what you are seeing.

What build are you using for the r7000?

Running the speedtest through privoxy will give you always bad results, I save myself a long explanation why, but it is not an issue for normal surfing or downloading. And the change I committed is several weeks old:-)

Thanks a lot Kong! So can I keep use Privoxy and it doesn't slow down my browsing speed?

Also because if I run other speed tests (without the bufferbload test, like Ookla) the speed doesn't degrade with Privoxy enable. Or is it better to use an adBlocker on the browser and not in the router?

Thanks!

@ jerrytouille I'm using the r37715M on the R7000 but it does nothing, I use it only as a wifi extender and wthernet switch, no services, no dhcp, etc..

I posted this in the 37835 thread but really should've posted it here: with these latest builds, do we no longer need the custom 802.11r config settings in the custom config setting (I'm referring to>>bss_load_update_period=50
chan_util_avg_period=600
rrm_neighbor_report=1
rrm_beacon_report=1
local_pwr_constraint=0
rsn_preauth=1
ap_table_max_size=255
ap_table_expiration_time=3600)
because they're already enabled by default in the hostapd.conf file? Also, where in dd-wrt is the hostapd.conf file so I can cat or print to screen and view it? I don't see it in /etc

EDIT: Okay, I found at /tmp/ath0_hostapd.conf, and it appears that none of those aforementioned custom configs are currently in the conf file, so I guess they should be added back in? I'm just going off what you said in another post that they were additional things for 802.11v and 802.11k that could be enabled.

those are mostly for 802.11k, its not required for 802.11r but 802.11k (& v), compliment 802.11r.

u missed one, bss_load_update_period=50

will 802.11k & v ever be added in webif (especially 802.11v, most is stripped from hostapd compilation)? odds are low but it'd be nice..

many basic consumer routers are coming with these features and more enabled out of the box. even an older one, smps-dynamic power save would be nice, but doesnt work on anything so far, only smps-static power save does but thats the shitty one.

Thanks, tatsuya. Initially, I'd turned on 802.11r on the previous build along with those custom scripts, and it seemed to be working great. Then when this most recent build, I left all the custom scripts out, and was experiencing my phone really wanting to stick to the original R7500v2 AP when moving toward the secondary AP (an R7000 running dd-wrt but not 802.11r), so I was trying to figure out if these missing custom script entries would've had anything to do with that.

It sort of seemed like "ap_table_xxx" and "rrm_neighbor_report" and "rsn_preauth" config entries might have some bearing on this behavior.

Wifi printer is not liking these last few 4.x builds rest of the devices are working fine. HP 2.4ghz N printer just won't get an IP assigned. Tried N only and NG mixed.

Flashed back to 37630 and printer connects to the LAN.

Going to try later with a full reset on one of these latest 4.x builds and see if that fixes it.

enable more detailed hostapd logging and see the syslog when the printer tries to connect
